McDonagh was a BEAST tonight, wow. That play he made late in the 3rd when he picked up a loose puck at center ice and just exploded through two Penguins at the blueline was a thing of beauty.
The way Lundqvist played tonight reminded me of the early season tilt at Vancouver when he put on an absolute show. The Rangers scored 4 in the 3rd to win 4-0 after Vancouver easily could have been up 3 or 4-0 after 2 periods.
Just finished watching the game.... Anyone have the slightest clue why Malkin was permitted to leave the ice after the icing call where Girardi beat him to the puck? 5 seconds and change left on the clock and Malkin is allowed to head to the bench just before the ensuing face-off in the Pens zone.... Not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things but I just don't understand why it happened and why Sam & Joe didn't notice or comment on it.... The player replacing him on the ice was already on the ice so it's not like he had an equipment problem and headed to the bench first before another player was told by the coach to jump on the ice... Looked like an illegal line change to me...
Lundqvist and McDonagh were brilliant tonight... Best players on the ice...
The penalty call on Staal was a total "make-up call" for having to disallow the goal after the incidental contact was make on Henke to deny the Pens their goal.
Anybody else think that Dubinsky goal tonight looked EXACTLY like the OT winner that Dubinsky passed to Callahan last year in Pittsburgh?!
Yes, that ran through my head immediately... It was a mirror image of previous goal... During the post-game they commented on it and even showed the replay from that previous game.

The refs were off their game again. What puzzled me was the blatant closing the hand on the puck and taking a full stride just 30 inches from the referee and no call at all.
I also thought the Rangers got away with three obvious calls, but the only good call was the waved-off goal.
Bickel butt-ended Park in the face accidentally and Park had to leave the ice with a bloody cheek. I don't know why it wasnt called.
Crazy to say, but NHL referees are now officially the worst of the 4 major sports.
NFL referees have had one of their best seasons in a long time after three straight years of costing teams games. NBA refs suck too but they've been cleaned up after Donaghy.
Hockey refs suck. That idiot that called Barch a racist should be banned for life for essentially making Barch's life personal life a living hell.
The good: managed a win without playing close to their best hockey. The Richards line is really starting to fire, especially with the re-emergence of Dubi. bRich has been doing a much better job in his own zone recently. Staal seemed to take those hots with no problem. the PK was excellent
The bad: 1st line still seems a bit 'off'. The start was terrible, and it's becoming a theme. The refs were poor tonight, for the most part in favour of the rangers.
The redden: MAF on that goal, WTF?
Overall, glad that they pulled out the W, hopefully they can work on improving how they start the game.

HM:
Torts for that TO. Genius man, freakin genius.
Braaad. $
Gabs got roughed up a bit, good to see him come out of that one alive.
Staals best game yet.
Callahan, 7 game-point streak with that slick toe-drag.
Also, if we win on Tuesday, it will be the first time since the 1991-92 season that we had four five-game winning streaks in the same season.
How do you keep track of this stuff. I wonder what the record is for 5 game winning streaks. I'm pretty surprised that that 93-94 team didn't accomplish that feat. BTW, that would still be true pre-lockout, because if we didn't beat Anaheim in the SO we would have had a 5 game winning streak anyway.
Great game Got back from the pub just now and ya haha, I wonder who Torts was looking at when he said "Maybe I shouldn't say that right now" haha (just complete curiosity). Also, I want to say thanks to those that posted links for the HBO series throughout the last few weeks. I don't have cable so that was great. Thanks!
1. Hank
2. Dubi
3. Danny G - it is at the point where he is so good players are hacking the **** out of him after the whistle because they are so frustrated
The Bad/Redden:
Easily the Pens announcers who are the worst in the league. How long are you gonna whine about the shot totals in the first period. WAAAHHHH.
