More AHL hockey on Sportsnet East...details to follow

Here is a message I recently sent to Sportsnet East :

Hey Sportsnet East, I wrote a e-mail a few weeks ago about the possibility of having more AHL games on Sportsnet East (particularly Hamilton Bulldogs). I recently heard that you would present hockey games from Europe. Does it mean that the number of AHL games on your channel will be the same as last year, or is there still some decisions to be made in that case? Thanks for your time! Guillaume

And here is the answer :

Hello Guillaume,

Thank you for your recent email. Decisions have not been made with regards to the broadcasting of Swedish Elite Leagues. However, we will be releasing our AHL schedule shortly. Rest assured that it has increased from last year. I hope this helps.

Sincerely

I wrote Sportsnet a couple days ago as well.
My letter:
Hello,
My name is Daniel Boutilier and I am a Sportsnet East viewer. I am a big fan of the NHL, and the Montreal Canadiens in particular. Aside from the Canadiens, I do my best to follow their farm team, the Hamilton Bulldogs. Since it appears there will be no NHL season this year, I am hoping to be able to watch a few more Hamilton games than usual. I know that Sportsnet shows a select number of AHL games each year, and I would like to know if they will show a greater number of AHL games as compensation for the NHL games they will lose this season.
I believe that AHL hockey is an exciting league to begin with, but with the added from the NHL playing this year, the skill level should reach a new plateau. In my eyes, showing more AHL games this year would be of benefit to all hockey fans. They will have a source of hockey for entertainment, as well as being able to watch some of the team's prospects develop.
I hope that Sportsnet is seriously considering this alternative.
Thank you for your time.
-Daniel Boutilier

His reply:
Hello Dnaiel,

Thank you for your recent email. We have recently signed an agreement with the AHL including increased games due to the NHL Lockout. We will be releasing a schedule shortly. I hope this helps.

I don't know how Dnaiel is pronounced, but who cares? Hockey is hockey!

Last I heard, they doubled their AHL schedule from 13 to 26 games. That's nice, but it won't carry me through the winter.

If I could watch a Bulldogs game a week over the winter, it would make this lockout alot easier for me to handle. I'm really looking forward to watching Hamilton this year.

So let's send the same kind of letter to TSN and RDS. I did it.

Is there any talk about RDS showing Hamilton games this year???? My brother was thinking about cancelling his RDS for this year, but if they even showed a handful of Hamilton games, I have a feeling he would keep it.

Now that is the kind of thing the folks at RDS should be informed of.

Scroll down the left side and hit the "écrivez-nous" button. Then scroll down to the form (don't forget to click "oui" on the "désirez-vous une réponse à votre courriel"). You can write in English, I guess. You could also threaten to send McPhee down there in person.

i did

I wrote to RDS (in FRENCH), here his their answer.

Hmm, so they think that having Making the Cut (on Tuesdays), the no-contact Caravan hockey thing (on Thursdays) and Classic games (on Saturdays) will keep us tuned in...NOT this puppy!!

For those who are in the Eastern Ontario/Western Quebec region, TQS, (Channel 11 in Ottawa) is televising the NAHL on Friday evening at 7:00 pm, I think. I watched a little bit last Friday. It's not the NHL, but, watching reruns of 'Slapshot' is always entertaining. Lots of fights late in the game.

The highlite of the game for me was when a player fell on a partial breakaway. I can't be sure, but, it looked like his skate broke.

Thanks Bill. I sent them an email...I'm going to hold off on the 'Mcphee' threat for now.

I already canceled mine. It'll only take about a half hour of phone time to get it reconnected (Bell Express-Vue), so...
