Dogs preseason stats

Top scorers are, Higgins, Kostitsyn and Plante, all with 2 pts. Only Kostitsyn is a + player of the 3. Higgins with 12 shots on goal.

Danis's numbers for one game are pretty bad. Hopefully he rebounds against the Moose this weekend.

Glad to see both Higgins and Kostitsyn at the top. I just hope they can continue like this when the real games begin.

As for Kostitsyn being the only plus player, kinda funny no......

Yes, It's kinda funny that a guy who is supposed to be allergic of his own end is a plus player. :lol Maybe we have a future Guy Carbonneau in our midst.

Probably just proves the point of how unreliable the stat is. You have to use it in conjunction with other attributes from that player to determine why he is getting a +. Maybe he's playing against the other team's 3rd lines who can't score worth crap and are having a hard time preventing him from scoring (hence a + stat for him).

Either way, still fun to see.. just need to swallow each stat with a grain of salt.

I completely agree on the +/- stat. I mean Dags last season was something like a +17. I never for a second believed that he was good defensivley. Like you say it depends on a lot of factors. Do your goals come on 5-5 play?? Do you play with guys who can cover your butt ever time you make a defensive mistake, which lines do you play against??, etc........
