Giving Gragnani some publicity (he sucks at ice hockey)

I am going to give Gragnani some credit:

By giving him his own thread for us to state just how abysmally putrid he is at hockey. Not many players get their own thread, but here you go, MAG! Congrats!

Get this ****ing ass-tool off the ice. Don't care if it means Joe Finley FTW, just get Gragnani out of my face.

Love,
Jbuddy

First post, new to the boards. Sabres fan living in the city of buffalo. U heights/ N. Buff.

I would love to see Finley up here instead of grags. Like most of you I can't stand Gragnani, do not understand how he leads the team in +/-, and is constantly quarterbacking our power play with so many players more deserving of the ice time. Another monster on our backend would be just lovely to me. I liked some of what Finley did in his brief time here, couldnt hurt to give him an extended tryout. He was a first round pick iirc.

Welcome!

As much as I agree with the sentiment regarding how bad Gragnani is, Finley isn't the answer. At least Gragnani is somewhat servicable. Finley didn't even average 8:00 minutes of ice time in the three games he was up here.

The Sabres have bigger fish to fry than Grags though (What the heck's going on with Miller? Why is every forward not named Vanek and Pominville playing like they have **** for brains? Has Lindy lost the team? etc.). I was enjoying the season a lot better when the biggest issue was whether or not Grags should be the #6 or #7 d-man.

I fully agree bigger fish to fry, but I had to pick a topic to jump in on somewhere. Can't stand MAG. Miller sucks. Thanks for the welcome!

I don't know where you guys are coming from with this grags hate thing. He certainly isn't the problem on the back line. He has not been playing as well as he could but seriously, where are the high priced people that are supposed to carry us? Grags might be the lowest paid guy on the team. WHich D guys are outplaying him and how?

Brennan played really well the last two games he was up. He brings some toughness and he certainly is a scorer which several of our blue liners are not. I am tired of this toughness thing that guys bring. No points and bad + - does not mean tough, it means goals for the other team and no answer.

Get off the grags thing and look at the entire d corp

Waive the ******* and bury his ass in the ECHL. If another team picks him up off waivers, awesome, we'll actually score against that team.

Gragnani always has his mouth open, like seriously. Everytime you seem him his jaw will be dropped. I think it's because he's in shock that he made it to the NHL!

I actually agree with this. This guy is ain't been good but he's playing at bargain basement prices compared to the higher paid stiffs that are really letting this thing blow up.

What higher paid stiffs do we have on the blueline? The D corps is the least of our worries as a whole - Gragnani just sucks.

You think so? If he's the problem then who are all those other guys who back up into our goalies instead of standing someone up at the bluline? It looks like an epidemic to me.

Weber was worse that Gragnani last night (@CAR).

And, it takes a team effort to get outshot night after night after night.
Grags ain't doing that by himself.

There's obviously something to this thread - played 7:02 last night. Coaching staff is seeing it now, finally.

Not sure what was up last night, but he played first pp unit though.

Once again, he isn't the problem. Watch our 'shutdown' pair of tough guys turn the puck over. If they can't score and they aren't stopping the other side from scoring , then what is the point? Not really seeing the fighting or sticking up for teammates from them either. Why is that? Like i said before, grags isn't the problem. You have guys making 3-4 million peryear that are doing nothing. He is a rookie that is not supposed to be carrying the team.

Guys making 3-4 million a year that are doing nothing? Who?

Leopold leads the team in goals from a defenseman. He's on pace for somewhere around 14, if I recall correctly.

Ehrhoff leads Sabres defensemen in assists and was a minute eater prior to going down.

Regehr has been a rock for much of the year.

Myers absence was extremely noticeable and his presence on the backend is showing more than ever since returning.

Sekera has been good this year.

The d has NOT been this teams problem. Gragnani has NOT been the problem. But he sucks and shouldn't be on the roster. Same goes for Weber.

Contradict yourself much? He's a rookie that is not supposed to be carrying the team, but yet plays the first PP unit?

He's an obvious liability - look at the TOI last night.

PP time - 4:46
EV time - 2:16
SH time - 0:00

You cannot just have a PP specialist defenceman. It doesn't work. You're playing with 5 defensemen when MAG dresses.

Its amazing how good he was in the playoffs vs Boston last year. But this year he has regressed badly. I believe he leads the Sabres in giveaways this season. I don't hate him, but I lost confidence in him for sure.

Yup. The defensive system, puck support and breakout schemes are all terrible. That's mostly coaching.

No its mostly lack of execution. But that can still be put on the coach. Either change to a system that better fits the tendancy of many of your skill players or get players that fit the system better.

I mean, yeah, that too.

Certainly, guys get caught floating around in coverage, but the lack of forechecking/pressure/finishing checks is system related, as is the ease with which opposing teams gain the zone and set up shop.
