#1 Goalie to the Hawks

title says it. And I'm not talking about a #1b guy.

Would have to take on Emery/Crawford, too

Offer Sheet Tuukka Rask.

Seriously though, i dont know if there are any upgrades available.

The last thing i want is to get underperforming "top" goalie with big paycheck traded to Chicago. One Huet was enough.

We could try to get decent 1b tho, Niittymäki from Sharks ?

Rask wouldn't be a bad idea, but that'd definitely cost you a 1st and maybe more like it did Colorado with the Varlamov deal. But Colorado is a better team because of it, there's no doubt about that.

we already have to decent #1b Goalies. But they aren't really what we need. We aren't stacked any more. If the Top4 doesn't produce, we won't win the games.

As far as being available. I'm not a GM, I don't know who would be available. All I know is that I would overpay. (keep in mind that Goalies don't bring back as much as forwards/dmen)

But how would that be any different than Crawford?

I'd give them Emery/Crawford, a 1st + better prospect for Rask, no doubt about that.

Nabokov has been great for the Isles and will definitely be traded.

None, you just would hope he could get half year good streak.
Crow has not been too good this year.

Our 2nd goalie has won over the 1st, what? 3 years in a row now ?

So why not break the cycle, bring Niitty in for real competition for ice time.

carry 3 goalies rest of the year, Niitty is also UFA so no ties attached if it doesnt work.

EDIT: I have to say, im half serious with this, and toying with the idea more than being absolutely dead serious about carrying 3 goalies.

I can't imagine the Bruins and Canucks would be eager to deal Rask or Schneider respectively to the Hawks, so there goes those two. Realistically leaving available...who? Only Bernier comes to mind...

Hawks fans will obviously reject this... Why would the hawks be adding a pick to toews? Just out of curiosity. I would almost think that Toews for those two is close value but adding a decent starting goalie and a pick... whoaaaaaaa

Most penguin fans might not be to thrilled but what about Crawford and a 1st for Fleury? He is an elite starting goalie, and has the capability to steal games fairly often.

No GM in his right mind would offer sheet any high-quality player, let alone Tuukka Rask from the Boston Bruins. When you try and sign a player to an offer-sheet you immediately make all negotiations with that team hostile and conflicted. It creates hate.

If Chicago wants a #1 goalie, they should try and pry Schneider from the Canucks. He'd be a great fit for them despite the rivalry between the teams.

The hawks beefed up this offseason and according to these boards the Canucks need gritty fighter-ish guys, so send one of them and a half decent prospect? Who know. Just my input

Yeah, Sharks did that to Hawks when we had cap hell year (Hjalmarsson case), and it hurt like hell. Tuukka Rask would be worth it tho.

Im patiently waiting whats gonna be the first trade between the 2 teams.

we're talking about carey Price who is one of the best goalies in the league obviously toews is better then pleks but carey is much better then crawford

Price >> Fleury

u can talk that MAF has a ring but he also has Letang Crosby Malkin Stall Neal etc... playing in front of him compared to carey who has nothing and yet still manages to be among the best goalies, carey is by far the only reason the habs made the playoffs last year

Hell no! I won't even take Pat Kane alone for Price. The only player on Chicago's roster that would go 1-on-1 with Price is Toews.

For one I did not say that Fleury is better than Price now did I? So do not go putting words in my mouth... Second of all last year fleury had personal bests in many categories without Crosby Malkin or Staal for half of a season each....

To each there own when it comes to fleury and Price... They are so comparable that it does not bother me what people think. Most teams would love to have either, that is for sure...

Also in my post I did not offer fleury for Toews, which was the only bad part of your proposal. You may think that Price is way better than Crawford. But many others will think that the gap in toews to plekanec is much greater than that of price to crawford. I happen to be one of them, given the market for goalies the past couple of years why would the hawks go and trade there young superstar captain who has taken them to there first cup in many many years?
