Ideally, Paajarvi stays in OKC away from this gong show for the rest of the season. I wish that we could send Lander down as well.

I'd like to see Brule, O'Marra and Petrell come up. Magnus should still get a longer stint, unless he's DEFINITELY going to play on the top line with the Oilers.

Does anyone even know why Petrell was sent down? I suspect he probably slept in or something and it was just never reported by the team/media.

Losing Brule on re-entry wouldn't be a concern at all. Dump half his salary. If he clears, comes up and plays well, then maybe there's a slim chance a team would trade a late pick for him at the deadline.

We could send him down and swap with say Omarra but at the same time, they probably wanna maintain the winning culture down there, status quo

Pretty much this. Lander has been good and doesn't deserve to get sent down, but he could still benefit from time down there playing more minutes, and he doesn't bring anything that O'Marra can't as well for 6-10 min a night.

I wonder if the Oilers send Lander down for the latter part of the season and the playoffs in OKC, especially once things are "beyond doubt" in Edmonton.

It makes a lot of sense IMO. Reward O'Marra for his continued progression and send Lander down with Paajarvi.

Get him playing in significant spot in during an important time of the season. I wonder how much Hockey Sweden with "love" the Oilers if they have 3 potential players for the WHC, playing the playoffs in the AHL, lol.

With all due respect to Tre Kronor, we need to develop these guys to be the best players that they can be.

Sure hope it's Petrell and O'Marra - that would make the most sense to me. As for Omark, not sure why people are even mentioning him right now. Doubt that he's ready to play for at least another 3-4 weeks, and I don't think they bring him right up to the show before he gets a few AHL games in. PRV was sent down to get his mojo back. Statistically, he's not exactly ripping it up down there. He has nearly a point a game, but only one goal. Clearly not ready by a long shot - keep him down there the rest of the season at all costs.

If we end up losing Hemsky we definitely need to bring Omark back up to run the powerplay.

So Teemu and Green aren't playing in Hamilton this afternoon. Did they fly out, or are they just staying in Edmonton?

That certainly is a consideration at the trade deadline. Hopefully Omark is physically able and ready to play at that time.

Agreed, Paajarvi needs to stay down there. Ideally Omark returns, helps Paajarvi get his mojo back, then Omark gets the call to go back and Paajarvi continues to produce in OKC. Jamie Benn played in the AHL playoffs at a young age, that worked well for him.

I kind of thought that they would be called up as soon as they had played their Sunday game (which they in the end obviously didn't). I guess this is not clear yet but I'd prefer them to come back and get a chance for another couple of games.

I think it is unfair to make a ruling on Green (although haven't seen it so much in this thread) after just 3 games. If he's not improved his performance after another 5-10 games then I'd want them to send him back for the rest of this season but as it is now I prefer the Oilers to give the guy a good chance.

I like what I have seen from PRV in terms of production and attitude in the OKC and I hope he's allowed to stay down so that he can get a nice consistent rythm in his game.

That would be the 2nd unit. Nuge runs the pp.

Not a fan of omark's and believe that his just like Fabian Brunnstrom and there is a reason why Brunnstrom has bounced between 3 teams and is now on the farm with Detroit

the question now is who should be recalled. Do the oilers gamble and recall Brule

If Brule is claimed, we should just say he 'earned it', and be supportive.

It's bad management, and reflects poorly on our organization by the players.

Other fringe/journeymen/breakout players will have trouble signing with the Oilers in the future, if they know we would keep the in the minors for the duration of their contract, rather than give them a legitimate shot.

It doesn't matter. Whoever is called up isn't going to get all that much playing time to make an impact.

I'm almost 90% certain Brule is coming up as one of the call ups

#Oilers have recalled forwards Magnus Paajarvi & Ryan O’Marra from the OKC Barons and placed forward Gilbert Brule on re-entry waivers

as per oilers twitter

Paajarvi better play 16+ minutes and get on the pp.

This is the right time to recall Brule. If he's claimed, no biggie. If not, maybe he can play well and create some sort of deadline deal value.

Given the injuries I'd assume he probably will.
