Roy on the (chopping) block

About time...right?

Friedman reported on CBC's Satellite Hot Stove:

EDIT: Skip to the last 30 seconds - the rest is realignment talk.

Get it done. They need a shakeup.

With another year left at a cap friendly number, Roy is by far our most useful trading chip.

Sell Sell Sell.

I expect it to be a deadline deal.

what can we realistically expect to get back? I want a shake up as bad as anyone, but I don't want to give up less then market value for a valuable asset.

That shoulder injury could be a problem...and hopefully last year's leg injury doesn't knock even more off his value. Last year, at his contract and production, he would have fetched a pretty price. Now, I'm not too sure.

I hope Regier has a few more guys on the list of folks he's shopping. I'd cut that "core" in half.

As long as Darcy and Sabres' fans are realistic about his value, I'm all for it.

Roy alone won't get us a number our center.....

But roy in a package of Stafford/Leopold and Armia/Pysyk (depends what the other organization needs) sounds like a very attractive offer.

Roy for futures from either the Hawks or Wings would be interesting. Pirri or Kruger from the Hawks, or Sheahan or Jarnkrok from the Wings. Build.

I just want Roy gone.. He's part of this "core" that the fans have come to hate.

A package of Roy and Stafford/Leopold is not going to bring you a No. 1 center.

Roy, Leopold/Stafford and then add Pysyk, Armia and our first and I could see a team like the red wings, Vancouver, Pens, Philly, anaheim ( Zetterberg Helm, Staal, Hodgson, Couturier, Getzlaf...) pulling the trigger

And with Roy currently injured, I bet it's gonna be a damaged goods trade where the Sabres will get nothing in return. Good job Darcy, wait until the player has absolutely no trade value!

Roy to Florida for Nick Bjugstad and Florida's 3rd round pick in the 2012 entry draft.

I wouldn't really get too excited for something to happen soon, obviously there's the whole injury thing, but I just don't see Darcy as a guy to dump Roy with his value so low. Personally think if we deal him it's probably a deadline trade.

What a lame copout trading Roy is... There are more players much more horrible and less productive then Roy, but hey expect any different? Regier should move Gaustad and then send his pal Miller off with him, instead he talks about moving his best center and best bargain.

I think if Roy is moved, you might as well hang a "for sale" sign around Gaustad, Hecht, Boyes, and Leopold. And if Regier can move another "core" piece at or near the deadline -- more power to him.

The question is, do we trust Regier with the rebuild? Do we trust this man to build it right, or are we setting ourselves up for just more disappointment down the road? Based on the Regehr trade and Ehrhoff's contract, I'm willing to give him a little latitude to make some deals.

What would you want from the Leafs for Roy?

Roy has a lot of value. I'd rather Darcy do what he's good at and get the maximum return for Roy.

I sure don't trust him. Maybe for more retooling I would, but he and Ruff have to go if there's going to be a true rebuild here...

I'd want Kadri and your first. Seems rich, but Roy isn't just a rental.
