I do think he'll hit a cold streak eventually, though not long ones like before.
I actually think that Kessel actually had a couple "cold streaks" this season...only difference between this season and last season is that when Kessel can't score himself Lupul does and Kessel still winds up putting up points in the form of assists.

My question is: who winds up with more points at the end of the season, Kessel or Lupul?

I hope he goes on a tear soon the way he did those first 5 games of the season (7 goals, 12 points). He hasn't had a 3 point game since then.

True, but by cold streaks I mean consecutive games without a point, which he hasn't had yet so far this season. I think it will happen eventually though.

And I think Kessel will get more points, but Lupul will probably still be at a ppg, not far off from Kessel. I'm really glad Lupul is still signed for another season after this.

I am really wondering if we will see an extended scoring slump by either player this season...I can't remember the last time I saw such instant chemistry between players as I have with Kessel and Lupul. If Wilson seperates the two of an injury occurs maybe we will see a slump but otherwise I can see this scoring lasting the whole season.

Personally I expect that Kessel will score more goals but the longer the season goes the better Lupul seems to get...I would not be surprised to see Lupul actually outscore Kessel pointswise.

Lupul has been outscoring Kessel since those first 5 games, so it's a definite possibility that he outscores him by the end of the season.

Barring injury, he should remain near the top of the league.

He's only been held pointless 7 times in 41 games this year (3 of them against Boston). He's scored in 20 out of 41 games, with the longest goal-less streaks being 6 games, 4 games, and 3 games (the rest were one 2 goal streak and 6 single games).

With that kind of consistency, the ridiculous chemistry he has with Lupul, and the obvious drive he shows night in and night out, I'd be seriously surprised if his point and goal production took a serious dip over the 2nd half.

I don't know, the Leafs generally ramp up everything during the second half. They were winning so many games in the 2nd half but never seemed to catch a break at all.

Kessel will get even better, even though he's playing great, I still think he's got a lot more to offer and he'll get a lot more multi point games IMO.

You'd have to be out of your mind to not trade Kessel for Getzlaf!

Through 41 games, he's got 48 points, on pace for 96 points. If you think Kessel will get even better from now on, then you also think he'll get at least 100 points by the end of the season.

Boy I hope you're right! That would be freaking amazing.

Lol, even if we had Parise, Wilson would be stupid to demote Lupul and break up the actual only pair of players with really good chemistry we've had that lasted since last season. Parise would then be on the 2nd line with whoever we have there.

He's going to surpass 40 goals this year. He already has 24 half way through the year. You're saying he's only going to score 14 goals in the next 41 games when the games mean even more? I don't agree. He could come close to 50.

Kessel and Lupul is the dominant pair in the NHL this year, what has Getzlaf done with Perry and Ryan to warrant taking Lupul apart from Kessel? I hope it'll be Kessel/Getzlaf/Lupul.

I think that would run over the league so very hard.

Can we start a "Thank you Boston" in here yet?

Just a reminder, in his last 69 games played, he's had 37 goals and 40 assists (AKA, since Lupul arrived). If he keeps up this pace for another 41 games, he'll end up with 43 goals and 47 assists (And that total is actually lowered, since he's played better this season than last).

Granted, he is in a hot streak right now (8 game point streak, goals in his last 4*), so he is bound to cool off... Right? Let's hope not.

All I know is that the Beauchemin trade was so money it freaking hurts.

Goals in his last 4 actually. Damn it Kessel, why do you have to always underachieve.

In other news, I found two negative Phil Kessel stats for haters to gnaw on.

1) He only has 11 power play points.
2) On the road in 21 games played, he's had 7 goals and 13 assists, and if he were to score on that pace, he would only have 27 goals and 50 assists (Only 77 points).

Just for the record, I'm playing around here. Everyone knows Phil Kessel is a God.

Lol, well most teams score more at home then on the road. So naturally, Kessel, just like most players, score more on home.

Haha, it didn't work out too great for us last time. Lets just try and stay classy and not bring back the whole trade debate issue.
