Philadelphia seems the most logical bet as a destination — Ryan would be a John LeClair-type player with the Flyers — and Philly vice-president Bob Clarke and Ryan’s dad are friends.
I can see James Van Riemsdyk in a package for sure. The Ducks might ask for Brayden Schenn. Sean Couturier is off-limits to all teams. and Anaheim would want a defenceman like Braydon Coburn.
We are pretty dumb if we move schenn. The guy is starting to find his game and was predicted to be a ppg player in the league after his performances an WJC.

Not only Schenn, but JVR and a top 4 defensemen gone from an already thin group. Just way to much to give up in my opinion.
So the Flyers are the most logical choice because Ryan is similar to a guy who used to play here, and his dad is friends with our former GM? Yeah, sound logic...
If the Flyers are moving guys like Schenn and JVR, there will be a defensemen coming back.
Getting Bobby Ryan only makes sense if a defenseman is coming back with him. Like Beauchemin.
Honestly, if it's Ryan and Beauchemin, I'm more than willing to part with JVR/Schenn and Coburn/whoever as part of the package going the other way. That said, I don't see anything happening.

So the Flyers give up a player who could potentially be as good as Bobby Ryan and a decent defenseman for a Bobby Ryan and a slightly better defenseman.
Even if Schenn ends up playing like garbage for the rest of his career, this trade does nothing to improve the Flyer's problems on defense. Coburn hasn't been playing poorly.
And what line would they put Ryan on anyway? Do they risk taking Hartnell off the Giroux line? Ryan Briere Read/Voracek?
Wow. This is actually really, really tough. I love Bobby Ryan, but I just don't think I'd be willing to give up what it takes to get him...
Untouchables for Ryan: Giroux (obviously) Couturier (obviously) Schenn (just can't deal the Richards center-piece for a lesser player IMO... especially after he is getting hot).
Really, really, really don't want to move: Voracek: He's so strong on the puck, he maneuvers through the neutral zone w/ such ease, he's a great playmaker, he is also very defensively responsible as he pretty much ALWAYS makes the correct play in his own zone and backchecks very hard. On top of all this, he's working harder than ever and is still clearly growing as a player.
Would be reluctant to move: JVR: It's a lateral move. Ryan is probably the better player right now, but JVR has the higher potential (at least IMO). I think we've seen the best out of Ryan (35g, 70pts) playing on that RPG line. I think JVR has 40+goal, 80+ point potential. He's younger, on the better contract, etc.
Would give up: Simmonds
Read Any Prospect not currently on the Flyers 2012 picks (all of them are in play) 2013 picks (all of them are in play)
I just don't see any way to get a trade done without starting w/ Schenn (non-starter IMO), Voracek (another non-starter IMO), or JVR (reluctant) and then adding to it, so I'd probably have to say no...
Don't know if I'm comfortable giving up 2 roster forwards for bobby Ryan alone. JvR and pretty much any other roster forward seems like overpayment. Only way I'm interested is if we can get fowler or sbisa with him for JvR+
Moving a struggling 50-point forward for a struggling 60-point forward and tossing in a young, top 3 defenseman for ***** and giggles is uniquely stupid.
players on the team i never want to move are Giroux, Schenn, Couturier and Voracek. Also hartnell for how good he has been with giroux. I disagree with whoever said bobby ryan has maxed out. He has a much better skillset than jvr and was playing out of position in anaheim without first pp time because of selanne. He will be an amazing fit with giroux after jagr retires but would have to settle for 2nd line left wing with Voracek and Briere in the mean while.
Still a d-man is most important and idrather use jvr on that

Bold is a straight up lie.
And I'd trade Voracek before I trade JVR.
And I love Ryan, but why the hell are we trading for him anyway?
I think Coburn will be overpaid for what he brings as soon as next year. imo Maybe Homer can replace Coburn with another move?
I'd be also interested to hear Ryan for JVR or Voracek.
So trade him and create an instant hole on defense and hope you can go find a replacement close to his level and oh yeah probably have to give another roster player to get it done.
I wouldn't want them to do that either honestly. The group of forwards are fine as is. No need to screw with it.
Trade one of Timonen, Meszaros, Coburn or Carle and we're finished this year. Might as well pack it up unless we're getting back someone even better than them, not Ryan (or any forward really)
