How you can prefer a design based off of a template designed by reebok that any team in the league had access to, over a design that is characteristic of the flyers and one that no other team has is beyond me. This is an iconic, well designed and simple look.
The edge jerseys were god awful in every single way.
i'm glad teams are slowly shedding their original edge jerseys. it'll be remembered as a bad period for hockey jerseys, the flyers being no exception.
This.
The penguins, the Senators, the capitals and the flames should be the next to change. Especially since the pens and the sens have te same jerseys with different colors.
The Pens should chance to the black and yellow jerseys from the early 90s
The sens should either make a light version of their 3rd jersesy they wear this year and make that their home jersey, or go back to their original 2 jerseys. The black one with the 2 red stripes on the sleeve was amazing.
The flames really need to make their retro jersey their home jersey and make a white one. That jersey is great. Their current jerseys are a mess.
And I wish the caps would just go with their winter classic jerseys and introduce a red one.

Yes, yes they were. I call them the apron jerseys, they were even worse than the silver logo thirds. And I never thought we would wear anything worse than them, but Reebok accomplished that feat.
The new road jersey is still an Edge jersey and they have the curved hem.
But yes I agree with the majority of everyone here, I definitely prefer the current road. I think my biggest problem with the old road jersey was the fact that the orange was too dark

They're technically still "edge" jerseys since they're made by reebok, however, when I use the term edge, I am referring to the generic templates that reebok offered with their original edge jerseys that teams simply put their colors and slapped their logos on.
Also, the curved hem and the slimmer fit are the 2 aspects of the reebok jerseys that I love. That shouldn't be changed.

Ah I understand ya now
I agree completely regarding the fit of the Edge jerseys. Im a pretty big guy at 6'6 and about 210 pounds so for me the biggest problem for me with the pre-edge jerseys was the sleeve length. It was far too short for me and as a result I was forced to get an XL or XXL so the sleeves were long enough. But at the same time, it looked like I needed to gain 80 pounds to fill out the rest of the jersey. With the Edge jerseys sleeve length being much longer while still being slim fitting, that problem has surely been put to rest
And I love the black nameplates. Maybe it's not the most historically accurate, but I think the feature makes the jerseys that much more unique and sets them apart from the rest of the NHL jerseys. Outside of the Flyers, only the Sabres alternate jerseys have off colour nameplates. It is a nice change of pace from the seemingly boring and repetitive jerseys the rest of the NHL teams wear

I wonder if the current road whites would look better with a layered lettering and no black name plate or the way they are now. That being said, I don't mind either of our jerseys and I wouldn't MIND seeing the WC jerseys become our alternates but I think they could make something better.

you and I are in the same boat, my friend!
i am 6'5'' 204 lbs, and have always had the same problem, with jerseys fitting properly form wise, but being way too short in the hem and the sleeves, and then when i'd get XLs, they'd fit length wise, but looked like dresses on me, and the neck would be too big, and exceed past the chest of my shoulder pads...
Love this jersey. I was in the Philadelphia airport this past Friday and tried without success to find it in some gift shop. I also came thisclose to buying the Winter Classic jersey, but my wife threatened me.
while i HATED the edge jerseys with a deep deep passion, and don't at all understand how anyone could be a fan of them, black or white, i wouldn't mind seeing, at some point, a black version of our current home jersey. maybe a black one with orange shoulders, kind of like the medicine hat tigers.
