Either way it makes no sense because the second part was that you COULD be wrong not definitely ARE wrong. Of course you could be wrong any of us could be though it's usually a bad sign when you're waaaay off everyone else thats all and gagline along with several others did a gj explaining the obvious reasons why such as our franchises history with RFA and MDZ's own overall history of play. You may be smart in wanting a long term deal now that doesn't mean this is reflective of the reality of what he will likely command from this franchise specifically

You are either a lawyer or a lousy English teacher.
The implication is that this is well outside the norm and even guys whoa re offer sheeted are often matched and held onto
Exactly. That and the fact that we ran into the same things with Staal, Dubinsky and Callahan. Everyone was clamoring about us needing to overpay or we might get an offer sheet, but nobody ever sent one.
It's a rarity, but people constantly bring it up like it's inevitable.
Next yrs cap is a sinch.......resign Prust , Biron to two plus yrs.....bet that happens this yr....Mitchell, Bickel on the cheap as spares..........let Eminger, Feds walk
let kids win spots like Kreider, Miller, Thomas, Erixon, McIlrath (thank god that Nash deal didnt happen)
DZ will get a raise but he loves NY and wont go anywhere.
they already dumped Wolski/EC off the books....Drurys cap hit goes down by a few million( also they didnt even end up using that this yr so it never hurt them)
On Wednesday night,McKenzie said NHL teams want Bettman and Daly to do something about the 2nd contract. DZ was on the TSN list of players coming off entry level contracts this summer. McKenzie said those teams are talking to their players but they will wait until the new CBA is finalized before re-signing their players. Why not wait until the CBA done. DZ is not arb eligible. Camps won't open open in September unless there is a new CBA in place. Waiting is smart. The NHL will probably do something about the 2nd contracts. The Rangers will have 3 more players entering 2nd contracts in the next few years.

This has what to do with what now? I neatly explain why you're completely wrong so you do what ever this comment is...? Are you trying to insult me? Are you pouting? I dunno how to respond
DZ scored his 10th goal of the season last night. 31 assists. 41 points. Career highs in goals, assists and points. He surpassed his first year totals of 9-28-37. He has gotten better and better. Its going to cost $3.5M-$4M per in a long term deal. Even the short 2 year deal will be expensive. $2.5M per. $3M per. Luke Schenn. 5 years/$18M which includes 1 year of group III. $3.6M. DZ is a better player. Both players are represented by Newport Sports. Unless the CBA places restrictions on how much salaries can increase in 2nd contracts.
Too many left hand/side defensemen; need to get another righthand/side defenseman to balance out the pairings. Also, forget about McIIrath for at least another year, possibly two years.

As he noted earlier, 2nd contracts are expected to be a focus of new CBA. Nevertheless, it's still going to be expensive to do anything more than a 1 year deal. I've used Schenn (5@$3.6MM) and Letang (4@$3.25MM) as possible comparables in the past. Given the way MDZ continues to grow, I'd be perfectly willing to do a long term contract and get this out of the way because McDonagh is goiing to cost at least as much (or more) a year from now.
Can I just say, the way this team is playing i'd rather use our cap space to lock everyone up long term rather than to drop massive cash on Parise or Nash. Zach scares me because as good as he is, it just seems like an unrealistic amount of cap space to lock up in 4 players on this team.
Give DZ, Stepan, McDonagh extensions right away. Why do NYR always wait until the end of contract to begin negotiations.

Trainee posters take note.
Letang is 4 years/$15M. $3.5M. He becomes a group III when the deal expires after 13-14. Unless Pitt signs him to an extension. For an extra $100,000 per,the Leafs got Schenn for a 1 group III year.

What p-art of "this is good if we could get him for this deal but we prob won't go long term" dont you get? it's not about what the actual contract would be IF we sign him long term it's just a question of if we sign him long term.
please lowball him. under 2 mill per, 3 year contract.
i'm thinking it'll be just over 2 mill per, 2 year contract.
we also have to keep mcdonagh in mind!
Why would DZ sign that?
The Rangers have the room to re-sign their own players. DZ and MCD will be paid. The CBA may limit how much they get in 2nd contracts but they will still be making very good money.

Letang is actually $14MM. But we agree on the point.
Getting MDZ for Schenn money would be nice, wouldn't it?

i want him to get closer to 2 than 3 mill is all i'm really saying. let's hope he has a diff agent than dubi. why? ny rangers discount
