Wow. That looks like a pretty stacked playoff roster. That really sucks for Pitlick and Hamilton though. I really hope that they can play in Stockton.

The twitterverse says Magnus Paajarvi is on his way back down to OKC. Renney said he wants him to go down and play some important games.

Hope we see some Tre Kronor goodness right away. I expect Baron games to get a huge boost in buy-rates from across the Atlantic.

Bob Stauffer said today Curtis Hamilton's injury is a lower body injury and he will be out 6-8 weeks. Damn.

I thought he later said to Tambellini it was a knee injury, but I might be wrong on that.

Game day! I'll be buying my first barons game. Will I have to watch it live or is there a way to record/save it for later.

Very curious to see how Lander looks in a bigger role! Also hoping for a look or two at a Tre Kronor line. =)

All games are archived, usually within 24 hours, but I'm not entirely sure if you'll get access to the archived version when you buy a single game (someone else might have the answer to that question).

AHL Live doesn't have any chase-play, pause or rewind functions (with the exception of a few "special event" games, like the one vs. the Heat in Calgary).
If the archived game is not included in your purchase, you'll need to watch it live.

I have the team pass myself, so I have access to every archived Barons game (home and away), but not a single non-Barons game.

Warning: don't get your hopes up about the quality of the live stream.
You'll get 480 x 360 pixels of low-bitrate video (again, "special event" games are an exception), and the quality of the home and away audio feeds can be anything from mediocre to downright unlistenable.
I've actually resorted to muting the AHL Live audio stream and running the OKC Barons radio feed in a separate browser window while watching the games.
It's the same announcer and everything (Jim Byers and friends), but the AHL Live version tends to be much worse than the stand-alone radio feed.

Also, they tend to use the scoreboard feeds for the video, so replays aren't always available, and sometimes they'll have graphics covering the screen during gameplay.
And if the original scoreboard video is a widescreen (16:9) feed, it'll most likely be squeezed into the 480 x 360 (4:3) image, making players appear quite lanky... unless you're able to change your computer's screen settings and stretch the image back to its original aspect ratio that way.

So why am I paying for a team pass if the quality is so bad, you might ask?
Well, I didn't intend to, actually, but then I noticed that my team pass from last season had been automatically renewed - and paid for by me.
It's a good thing I'm so rich I don't notice when money disappears from my account.

That said, it's fun watching the Barons, despite all the shortcomings of AHL Live.
So if you really want to watch them, and don't mind overpaying for a lousy stream, I say go right ahead!

OKC Barons vs Peoria Rivermen 3/2/12

Injured scratches are Dan Ringwald, Curtis Hamilton, Andrew Lord, Alex Plante, Hunter Tremblay (he is with the team will probably play sometime this weekend).

Healthy scratches are Kirill Tulupov, Ryan Martindale, Tyler Pitlick.

Coach Nelson said listening to Omark/Lander/Paajarvi talk to each other today in practice sounded like machine gun fire they were blabbing so fast all at once.

Yann Danis with the start in net.

Anton Lander takes a holding penalty just a couple minutes into the game.

Peoria opens the scoring on the Lander penalty to take a 1-0 lead.

Tanner House busts in with a good shot on net that the goalie had to squeeze under his arm.

Peoria scores again on a tic-tac-toe scoring play on an even strength marker to make it 2-0 for the Rivermen.

Former Oiler Danny Syvret was in on both Peoria goals.

Paajarvi turns on the jets and through a seam on the right side of the ice for a good scoring chance. Magnus was chopped down on the play and the Barons are headed to their first power play of the game.

Coach Nelson goes with 5 forwards on the power play with Lander, Hartikainen, Green, Omark and Paajarvi making up the top PP unit. Peoria with a good short handed scoring chance seconds in. The Rivermen kill off the penalty and I do not think the OKC power play even got a shot on net.

Barons back on the PK. Colten Teubert with a big hit on the penalty kill and it results in the puck coming loose and cleared. A Peoria player had Yann Danis down and out, an empty net to shoot at but fumbled the puck and blew the opportunity.

I think OKC is honestly missing both Hunter Tremblay and Ryan O'Marra out there. They were the two rocks on the on PK and settled things down at even strength too. At least Tremblay will be back soon.

Lander and Paajarvi each had a shot on net in the first, no shots yet for Omark. But overall a quiet period for that explosive line, still getting used to their new linemates I am sure.

---

Tristan Grant gets in a scrap with Peoria enforcer Anthony Peluso. Sounded like a fairly even one with both guys tying up each others arms and blocking punches. Think Grant started that one to try and get his club fired up a little bit.

Tanner House with a slapper in on net that the goalie deflects out of play. Off of that face off though OKC scores to cut the Peoria lead in half to 2-1.

Goal scored by Ryan Keller with assists to Tanner House & Antti Tyrvainen.

Paajarvi sets up Harski in the slot but the goalie tips the puck away from Teemu at the last second. Magnus now out with Vandevelde and Hartikainen.

Antti Tyrvainen busts in for a good hard slapper on net.

The Lander/Omark line gets pinned in their own zone for most of an entire shift.

Starting to get some end to end play going both ways now but tipped a little in the Rivermen's favour.

Lander sets up Bryan Helmer for shot from the point that goalie holds on to. Off the face off Teubert to Ryan Keller who had a dangerous scoring chance in close.

Barons headed to the penalty kill yet again. Peoria with good pressure early on their power play. Antti Tyrvainen (who has started killing penalties recently) with some good work as he steals the puck away from a player, rushes up the ice and blasts a good shot on net and in the process draws a penalty and takes away the Peoria man advantage.

Paajarvi with a good defensive play in the dying seconds that would have sprung a Peoria player in on net.

---

Danny Syvret strikes again seconds into the period setting up another goal increasing the Rivermen lead to 3-1.

Only seconds later the Barons score to slice the lead back down to one with 3-2 score now.

Goal scored by Mark Acrobello with the lone assist to Ryan Keller.

Omark sets up Teubert for a shot on net, but the puck is tipped on the way in and goes just over the net.

Some back and forth play for a while with neither team doing much of note.

Peoria rips a drive past the glove hand of Danis and apparently some puck watching going on for the Barons. Rivermen now lead 4-2.

Tanner House tries to hit a streaking Tyrvainen but turns over the puck in the middle of the ice for a nice scoring chance on Danis.

My feed cut out for a few minutes...when it came back House is in the penalty box and OKC back on the PK yet again.

Ryan Keller with a good scoring chance on goal and Bryan Rodney follows up his rebound with a another shot and the Riverman goalie had to be sharp.

Not as much jump as I thought the team would have after that rest lately.

OKC pulls their goalie.

Some pretty good pressure from the Barons with extra attacker and Dylan Yeo rips a dangerous shot just wide of the net. Paajarvi with a shot in the dying seconds.

The Barons lose 4-2.

Some notable shots on goal totals on the night:
Keller 4
Harski 3
House 3
Cornet 2
Paajarvi 2
Lander 1
Omark 0

This team has been falling apart . 0-2 after the 1 period. The heros of the frame are Teubert and Montgomery.Teubert always on the verge of taking the silly penalties.
How could they trade Ryan for that wonky toothless stump of Rodney ?

Yeah I love it when Teubert plays on the edge. He is a mean bugger sometimes.

Due to him the latest play was the penalty shot drilling for the enemy. The story goes on in this game.

What is stinky about this team is that the most rewarded with lots of ice time are those who crap up most.

Yeah that is how they have been 1st overall in the AHL most of the season. By giving the weakest players on the team all of the ice time.

Our back up goalie is also amongst the best in the league, and we have the stingiest D in the league. Danis has been good, but he isn't the only reason.

Must be cluttered with Pitlick and Martindale being healthy scratched. I wonder if it's even healthy for their development.

OKC Barons vs Grand Rapids Griffins 3/3/12

Injured scratches are Curtis Hamilton, Andrew Lord, Hunter Tremblay, Dan Ringwald.

Healthy scratches are Ryan Martindale, Tanner House, Bryan Helmer (they sit the old man to keep him rested sometimes on stretches of 3 games in 3 nights - so Tulupov comes back in to give him that rest).

Tyler Pitlick and Kirill Tulupov back in the line up tonight.

This month is easily the Barons most busy month of the season as they play 15 games.

David LeNeveu gets the start in net for the Barons. The Griffins starting goalie is former Oilers goaltender Ty Conklin.

The all Swede line of Omark-Lander-Paajarvi are back together. Grand Rapids also has an all Swedish line (Gustav Nyquist-Fabian Brunnstrom-Joakim Andersson). Tre Kronor night...

Hartikainen with a solid early hit.

Ryan Keller sets up Bryan Rodney for a point blank scoring opportunity but Conklin makes a good.

Seconds later Ty Conklin made a pass from behind the net and then got tangled up with a Barons player and as a result was totally out of position. OKC jumped on the opportunity and scored into an empty net. OKC now leads 1-0.

Goal scored by Barons enforcer Tristan Grant with the lone assist to Chris Vandevelde.

Tristan Grant and Garnet Exelby get chippy with each other.

Grand Rapids with back to back big scoring chances but fail to convert.

OKC head to their first power play of the game. They fail to convert and did not really generate very much of note.

Chorney goes off with a slashing penalty. Anton Lander & Josh Green are the forwards on the top PK unit.

A Grand Rapids player had a break away but the Barons D managed to catch him at the last second before shot the puck. Rodney and another guy were the defense pair.

At the end of one period OKC out shooting the Griffins 12-10 (only 1 shot (Lander) so far for the big Swede line unfortunately - quiet period from them).

---

Barons with some good offensive zone pressure to start the period. But Philippe Cornet takes a holding penalty in the middle of it. OKC will be down a man.

Grand Rapids scores on the power play to tie the game 1-1.

I said it before and I will say it again the Barons PK seems to be struggling a lot more without Ryan O'Marra and Hunter Tremblay on it, settling everything down and shutting things down. I think the Oil thought Vandevelde could replace O'Marra but I am not sure he is up to filling in those shoes just yet anyway.

Big scrum around the Barons net with multiple Griffins swiping at a loose puck and they finally put it in the net. Grand Rapids now leads 2-1.

Are Omark-Lander-Paajarvi even getting possession of the puck when they are out there. I never hear their names and it is nearing the halfway mark of the period.

No sooner did I say that then the next shift both Lander and Paajarvi with scoring chances around the Griffins net.

Vandevelde takes a hooking penalty. Barons kill it. Right after that Kirill Tulupov takes an interference penalty. OKC manages to kill that one off as well.

Bryan Rodney with a nice set up to Josh Green who then turns it into a tic-tac-toe play to Tyler Pitlick who forced the Griffins goalie to come up with a big save.

Seconds after the big shift above Linus Omark makes his name known tonight by jumping out on the ice and gives the puck right away to the Griffins. Who rush down the ice for an unassisted (guy who Omark gave the puck to scored) goal to increase the Griffins lead now to 3-1.

The Griffins goal came with 42 seconds left in the period.

By the way the play-by-play guy who usually defends Omark when messes up when the Colour man is critical about him. Now is basically saying the same thing that semi-regular plays like that are the reason Omark is not in the NHL. It is starting to seem he has had hand in almost as many goals against his team than goals he was involved in that were scored for his, since his return from injury. Disappointing... Hope he can start clearing that stuff up a little bit here soon as Bob Stauffer keeps hinting that Omark is likely to get called up very soon, hopefully plays like that do not change for him.

---

The Griffins ring one directly off of the goal post.

Anton Lander sets up Linus Omark in front of the net for a good scoring chance on net.

Vandevelde takes a goalie interference penalty. Barons kill it.

The Barons get a power play but fail to convert.

Lander feeds Paajarvi who sets up Omark in the slot for a shot on net.

Harski bulls his way in on net and draws a penalty in the process. Good work by Teemu.

OKC scores on the power play to cut the Griffins lead back down to one with a 3-2 score.

Goal scored by Tyler Pitlick on a nice set up from Taylor Chorney & Teemu Hartikainen gets the second assist.

Nothing much happens for the next little stretch.

The Barons pull their goalie. Only seconds later with the extra attacker Josh Green fires the puck and it is tipped into the net past Ty Conklin to tie the game up with only 61 seconds left in the game.

Goal scored by Magnus Paajarvi with assists to Josh Green & Linus Omark.

We are headed to OT!

---

Cornet sets up Paajarvi in front of the net but he just missed the pass in the slot.

Taylor Chorney drops down from the point and Tyler Pitlick sets him up but Chorney fired the puck over the net.

Barons got another good shot on net but the announcer was talking so fast I missed who he said shot the puck.

We are headed to the shoot out.

Cornet attempt failed.
Griffiins with a spin-o-rama attempt fails.
Teemu Hartikainen attempt failed.
Griffins attempt fails.
Linus Omark attempt failed (went way wide came and faked the slapper but Conklin did not bite).
Griffins Brunnstrom scores.
Magnus Paajarvi makes a fake, does not even get a shot off...
Griffins Chris Minard comes and also scores.

The Grand Rapids Griffins win 4-3.

Their back-up Goaltender is #2 in GAA and #5 in SP.

The team is very, very good.

While I agree that he needs to simplify things overall, I'd like to defend Omark here.
It was a good shift by him and he was taking the puck into the slot, below the hash marks, for a scoring opportunity when he was hooked and stripped of the puck.
Giveaway or not, considering where Omark was on the ice (and that the Griffin in question was at a standstill), it should never have resulted in a 2-on-1 in the first place.

It wasn't a good play, regardless. Like Byers said giveaways is likely why he's not in the NHL. Tulupov played the 2 on 1 horrendously, but Omark brought it on by holding onto the puck too long.

While I agree, it wasn't completely Omarks fault as someone obviously was caught in too deep, but you have to understand the frustration as this isn't a rarity. Since coming down he has gave the puck away a lot.
