I think it's safe to say Hemsky'll be gone come the TDL, so I wouldn't be against playing him in that roster spot once it opens up.With some luck in the health department ( )

The official SEL website published an Omark update earlier today.
His agent says Omark's cast was removed on Wednesday and his foot felt better than expected.
He started working out right away without complications.

Thank goodness, unfortunately he'll probably get healthy and up to speed when Eberle and RNH get back too.

Yeah. Really unfortunate timing. If he were healthy today, he'd be the first call up. Hope he can return to form quickly.

I wouldn't be shocked to see Omark back up before the end of the season. I think he'll probably move to another team at some point though, we just have too many smallish forwards (still!)

OKC Barons vs Rockford Ice Hogs 1/13/12

Gilbert "Pop Tarts" Brule claimed on waivers.

Ryan O'Marra, Magnus Paajarvi and Josh Green called up.

Injured players are Tristan Grant, Linus Omark, Kirill Tulupov, Andrew Lord.

Sean Erickson was released from a PTO on Monday. Milan Kytnar was called up from Stockton and is in the line up tonight.

I assume Kevin Montgomery on D is a healthy scratch, unless there was an injury I have not heard about?

Ryan Keller returns from injury tonight. Dylan Yeo also returns from injury for this game. Hartikainen's first game back since being sent down from the Oil.

Yann Danis gets the start in net.

Barons get a power play against the worst PK in the league. They fail to score and the OKC power play has not had a goal in the last 18 attempts.

A whole lot of nothing as far as offensive pressure. Halfway through the first period the shots are 3-1 for Rockford.

OKC scores on just their second shot of the period 15 minutes into the 1st period to take a 1-0 lead.

Goal scored Mark Acrobello with the lone assist to Hunter Tremblay.

Lennart Petrell and Antti Tyrvainen with some decent rushes. But not much in the way sustained pressure by the Barons all period.

Shots at the end of one are 6-2 in favour of Rockford.

---

Announcers talking about how this has been a very pedestrian game so far and lacking edge.

Antti Tyrvainen getting under the Ice Hogs skin a little bit.

Barons once again unable to convert on another power play opportunity.

Curtis Hamilton with a good solid hit along the boards.

Campbell with pass down low to Ryan Keller who forces the Ice Hogs goalie to come up with a big save.

Tremblay nearly connects to Tyler Pitlick on a re-direct shot. Must have been a dangerous chance as the crowd loudly in unison does the Ooooohhhhhhh sound.

Petrell with a solid hit.

Hartikainen tries to beat 3 defenders at the opposing blue line a couple times and as usual when he does this he gets stripped of the puck each time.

Tyrvainen-Kytnar-Hamilton playing well and getting some extra shifts for their good work.

Petrell, House, Helmer with some solid work to help kill off a Rockford power play.

Antti Tyrvainen streaks in for a good shot on net / scoring chance.

Curtis Hamilton with some good hard work along the boards draws a Rockford penalty in the dying seconds of the 2nd period.

Shots are 15-12 at the end of two.

---

I missed the first few minutes of the third.

But by the sounds of it on that power play the Barons had a break away by Dylan Yeo and also hit a goal post. But still do not convert and that is now 20 straight PPs without a goal.

Hartikainen with a bone rattler of a hit early in the period.

Ryan Keller over to Philippe Cornet on another power play on a 2 on 1 that nearly converted.

Barons Dman ECHL PTO recent signee gets schooled short handed and Rockford scores to make it 1-1.

Tyrvainen sets up Kytnar for a sweet opportunity in the slot, but the Ice Hogs goalie comes up with a big save. That is followed up by back to back scoring chances from Curtis Hamilton. Good shift for that line.

Lennart Petrell with some offensive pressure in the dying seconds of the third period.

Rockford calls a time out with 20 seconds left in the period and the draw is in the Barons end.

We are headed to OT again.

---

Taylor Chorney streaks in for a scoring chance on the Rockford net.

Barons Dman Martens fires a dump in way wide of the net and the Ice Hogs goalie tried to catch it in his glove, but it popped out of his glove and came close to going into the open net.

Rockford fire a shot in off the point and score to win. The Barons lose the game 2-1.

The Barons have a weak defense corps, not enough puck movement from the back end and they can not seem to buy goals these days.

I must say Teemu Hartikainen has not produced like I thought he would when he was given top line minutes and top PP minutes. I remember at one point close to 10 games in he was about a PPG. Currently he sits at 15 points in 24. Enforcer Tristan Grant has nearly the same amount of points as Teemu in close to the same amount of games.

Philippe Cornet since coming back from his injury has been pretty cold after tearing up the league early in the season.

Hopefully the young guys like Hamilton and Pitlick can start taking the increased ice time by the horns and start producing a little more in the second half. That is usually how it goes for rookies they have a much better second half of the season.

OKC Barons vs Abbotsford Heat 1/14/12

Healthy scratches are Darcy Campbell and Tyler Pitlick (apparently he has a nagging lower body injury and might have been able to go, but was a game time decision).

Injured players are Tristan Grant, Linus Omark, Kirill Tulupov, Andrew Lord.

Abbotsford has dressed 3 enforcer types tonight Guillaume Desbiens, Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond, and Raitis Ivanans. As can be expected with Tristan Grant injured you imagine Cam Abney is back in the line up tonight.

I heard Coach Nelson before the game and he basically said he tried reverse psychology before the game today by telling the guys not to shoot the ****ing puck tonight.

Yann Danis with the start in goal again tonight, back to back nights.

Cam Abney back in the line up and Dman Kevin Montgomery back in tonight.

Curtis Hamilton in the first shift of the game is all over the other teams offensive zone, controlling the puck and creating chances.

Cameron Abney with a partial break away, but got bothered from behind just enough that he failed to get a shot off at the last second.

Antti Tyrvainen getting under the Heat players skin. Apparently Tyrvainen was going after Jodan Henry, the guy that broke his arm early in the season.

The next shift Tyrvainen goes after Henry again and fights him, taking Henry down to the ice at the end of this brief scrap and getting a cheer from the crowd.

The Barons PP at the end of the period with good pressure and scoring chances. I think their power play though is now 0 for 23 or something like that.

---

The line of Tyrvainen-Kytnar-Abney with some pressure in the O zone and a nice scoring chance.

Lennart Petrell and Harski combine for a scoring chance.

Tyrvainen once again is all over Abbotsford both physically and again with another shift where he is creating havoc and scoring chances in the Heat zone. Tyrvainen with another nice set up for a dangerous sounding shot from Cam Abney.

Curtis Hamilton with another strong shift.

I guess the Barons are listening to their coach. They are currently out shooting Abbotsford by a count of 21-9.

OKC scores an even strength marker to tie the game 1-1.

Goal scored by defenseman Dylan Yeo with assists to Teemu Hartikainen & Lennart Petrell.

The Barons are now 0 for 24 on the power play.

Tyrvainen has some words at the end of the period with Letourneau-Leblond.

Shots at the end of two are 25-11 in favour of the Barons.

---

The Barons PP with good pressure and shots on net. But the power play is now 0 for 25 now.

Ryan Keller and Philippe Cornet combine for a scoring chance off the rush.

Curtis Hamilton and Mark Acrobello also combine for a good scoring chance and pressure down low.

Shots are now 31-13 for OKC.

A Barons player skates past the puck and misses it by the side of the net. An Abbotsford player comes up right behind him and shoots it short side for a goal and Abbotsford now leads the game 2-1 halfway through the third.

OKC is continuing to come at the Heat hard spending most of the time in their zone.

Hartikainen and Petrell all over Abbotsford on a late period power play and pull the goalie.

Abbotsford manages bar the door and hold on to their one goal lead. OKC loses 2-1.

The colourman said he wonders if Ryan Keller is really back to healthy after missing a couple games to concussion. As he does not seem like Keller they know.

Good to see some offense from the back end.

Wonder if we'll see a Tyrvainen call up soonish, might push Eager.

OKC Barons vs Abbotsford Heat 1/15/12

I believe PTO contract defenseman Darcy Campbell.

Injured players are Tristan Grant, Linus Omark, Kirill Tulupov, Andrew Lord, Tyler Pitlick.

OKC and Abbotsford are the top two defensive teams with the lowest goals against in the league. The Barons offense however drying recently has the Barons sitting at 15th in offense.

Philippe Cornet after an ultra hot start to the season has 2 goals since US thanksgiving.

The Barons D corps are as follows Chorney, Helmer, Montgomery, Yeo, Ringwald, Martens.

I missed nine minutes or so of the first period. Looks like Cameron Abney fought Pierre Letourneau-Leblond just before I started listening.

David LeNeveu gets the start in net.

Taylor Chorney sets up Philippe Cornet for a re-directed pass shot on net and it misses the open top corner of the net by a couple inches.

With the lack and production and the lack of centers right now Vandevelde is seeing 1st unit PP time. Tanner House with a nice scoring chance on the 2 power play unit.

The Barons are now 0 for 27 on the power play. Big time futility on the man advantage. Score is still zip-zip.

Hunter Tremblay got into with a Heat player, but the Heat player got the only penalty.

OKC are now 0 for 28 on the power play.

Shots are 9-9 at the end of one. Score is still zip-zip.

---

Milan Kytnar takes a penalty at the start of the period.

OKC scores a shorthanded goal to take a 1-0 lead.

Goal scored by Chris Vandevelde with the lone assist to Hunter Tremblay.

On the same penalty Milan Kytnar comes out of the penalty box and gets a break away pass, he streaks in all alone shots, the goalie saves, Kytnar picks up his own rebound and OKC scores to make the score 2-0! So that penalty against the Barons effectively produced two goals for them. Go figure. Some great work on both goals by Hunter Tremblay.

2nd goal was scored by Milan Kytnar with the lone assist once again going to Hunter Tremblay.

Scoring two quick goals like that almost feels like bubble finally bursting for the Barons. Hopefully they can keep it up.

The Heat take a time out and come back with some strong pressure in the Barons end.

Hunter Tremblay wins a race for an icing, then comes up with a couple hard body checks. An Abbotsford player comes flying over and Tremblay drops the mitts with him and they have what sounded like a fairly spirited scrap. Great game from Tremblay tonight.

Tyrvainen with a big shift hitting everything that moves and putting on offensive pressure in the Abbotsford zone.

I have hardly even heard Hartikainen name tonight in this game. He seems to be doing nothing besides not getting scored upon.

Ryan Keller with back to back scoring chances. Acrobello follows that up by putting a deke on a D man and going in for a shot on net.

Oh wait I finally heard Hartikainen's name. He was the last forward coming out of the zone and brutally gives away the puck. Abbotsford takes the giveaway for a partial break away, scores and cuts the Barons lead down to 2-1. That goal was all on Hartikainen. Well I guess if you are making absolutely nothing happening anywhere else on the ice you might as well do something notable in the game. Lame Harski.

A minute later the line of Petrell-Arcobello-Hamilton team up with Dman Taylor Chorney and they are all over the Heat for the entire ****. They end the shift by scoring and regaining their 2 goal lead!

Goal scored by Lennart Petrell with assists to Taylor Chorney & Mark Acrobello.

The period ends with all the Abbotsford players trying to get at Antti Tyrvainen. He is getting under their skin big time haha. Love this guy.

---

David LeNeveu has been strong all game for the Barons in net and makes a couple more saves early.

Tyrvainen hittin' fools into with checks. Once again the Abbotsford players panties are in a bunch and are trying to get at him once again haha.

Taylor Chorney with two good back to back shot blocks when the Heat had some good pressure on.

Abbotsford comes close to scoring but Antti Tyrvainen steals the puck off a player in the slot at the last second to possibly save a goal.

Curtis Hamilton with a great hard working shift on the PK.

Tyrvainen with some more offensive pressure and physical play for the Barons.

This game has been pretty chippy, lots of hate on both sides and plenty of scrums and some little cheap shots. This rivalry is getting good their final games against each other up in Canada could be action packed. Another big scrum just went down and 4 players come out of it with penalties.

OKC are now 0 for 28 on the power play. But they did have some pretty good pressure on this last one and Petrell came close to putting one away at the end of the man advantage.

Abbotsford pulls their goalie.

OKC wins 3-1! A much needed win and finally they break through with some offense.

Final shots on net were 28-20 in favour of the Barons.

Anyone have some inside information on Antti Tyrväinen's possible transfer to Finland, for Jokerit? I heard something like that, from an inside source which I cant reveal (sorry), so I thought maybe you guys know something.

^ It would suck if that happened. It sounds like he has really come on strong lately. Sounds like a guy we could use on the Oilers.

I have some doubts about that. He signed a 2 year contract with the Oilers. With all of the injuries they need him in OKC. He is playing the best he has all season lately.

I guess we will see if anything else comes up, right now though I would chock it up to being a rumour and not much more than that.

OKC Barons vs Rochester Americans 1/19/12

Dman Darcy Campbell released from his PTO.

Injured players are Tristan Grant, Linus Omark, Kirill Tulupov, Andrew Lord, Tyler Pitlick, Alex Plante.

Injury update - Tyler Pitlick and Kirill Tulupov are do back soon from injury. Alex Plante has go through some stuff with the doctor on the ice and if that goes well get in a practice before he can be fully cleared to play.

Yann Danis with the start in net.

Barons bust in on the rush Mark Acrobello feeds it into the slot for a dangerous sounding scoring chance. But Lennart Petrell was taken down just before he could re-direct the pass on net. No interference call though.

Rochester takes a penalty. The Amerks kill it. OKC now 0 for 30 on the power play.

The Amerks score to take a 1-0 lead and open the scoring.

OKC scores less than two minutes with an even strength marker to tie the game up 1-1.

Goal scored by Hunter Tremblay with the lone assist to Mark Arcobello.

Rochester with lots of pressure on their PP and they ring one off the goal post.

Barons with a delayed power play call but they score before the Amerks touch the puck. Score is now 2-1.

Goal scored by Mark Arcobello with assists to Chris Vandevelde & Hunter Tremblay.

Tremblay has been playing great lately and is getting rewarded with some points lately.

Shots on goal are 12-5 in favour of OKC at the end of one.

---

OKC SCORES A POWER PLAY GOAL!! They did it on their 31st straight power play since the last goal and take a 3-1 lead.

Goal scored by Mark Arcobello with assists to Lennart Petrell & Teemu Hartikainen.

Yann Danis with a big time save right after the Barons goal.

Rochester goalie lets in what sounded like a weak squeeker that just went across the line. Barons now lead 4-1!

Goal scored Philippe Cornet with assists to Mark Acrobello & Ryan Keller.

Arcobello has a hot hand tonight it would seem, he is racking up the points.

The Barons are taking penalty after penalty. Three in a row back to back now with a partial 5 on 3.

Yann Danis with a huge glove save to rob an Amerks player.

Hartikainen with a big hit on the PK that squirts the puck loose and he gets a scoring chance out of it.

Yann Danis with another huge save. Barons kill off the three power plays.

The Barons get nearly a full 5 on 3 power play on back to back puck shot over the glass penalties. Some okay pressure but fails to score.

OKC scores to make it 5-1.

Teemu Hartikainen makes a power move off of the boards and scores with a nice shot and the lone assist went to Tanner House.

Immediately off the face off after the goal Mark Arcobello gets high sticked in the face and cut. No call and as he was down the ice the Americans and quickly went down and scored. Barons were pissed and Arcobello was complaining to the officials. Score is 5-2 now.

Shots on goal are 23-13 in favour of Oklahoma at the end of the second.

---

I had to go do something and missed the entire first half of the 3rd period.

But the score is still 5-2.

Lennart Petrell walks around a Rochester defender and gets a good shot on net.

Antti Tyrvainen fighting hard for the puck and then re-directs a shot on net. Had some words with a couple Amerks player when the whistle went.

Some back and forth play, not much of note.

Yann Danis is still staying strong in net.

OKC wins the game 5-2!

I believe this win puts OKC in a tie with the Hershey Bears for 1st overall in the league.

Three Stars:
1. OKC - Mark Arcobello
2. OKC - Hunter Tremblay
3. OKC - Teemu Hartikainen
