Healthy scratches: Cameron Abney, Bryan Helmer (they often give the old boy a rest for one game on 3 games in 3 night stretches).
Injured scratches: Dan Ringwald, Andrew Lord, Alex Plante, Curtis Hamilton, Anton Lander.
Plante and Lander are both day to day and both could be back for next weekends games at some point.
Kirill Tulupov draws back into the line up (maybe last night too, I did not listen).
David LeNeveu with the start in net tonight. Andrew Raycroft at the other end of the ice.
Seconds into the game Tulupov in a race with two Texas Stars for a potential icing and according to the announcer Tulupov started to just give up on the race. Taylor Chorney apparently seen this and turned on the jets blowing by all three guys to touch up the puck. Just mentioned that as it seemed weird he said Tulupov gave up on the puck race.
Vandevelde with a solid hit early.
Philippe Cornet rushes in to the slot for a blast on net.
The next shift Ryan Martindale busts into the slot for a good shot on net and Tanner House picks up his rebound and scores. The score is 1-0 Barons.
Goal scored by Tanner House with assists to Ryan Martindale & Dylan Yeo.
The Stars rush right back on the next shift and put one past LeNeveu to tie the game up 1-1.
Good offensive pressure shift from the Barons with Tyrvainen, Cornet and defenseman Bryan Rodney working the puck around. Tyrvainen with a solid hit on the play.
Tristan Grant with a slapper from the slot and Tanner House picks up the rebound and nearly converts his second of the period.
OKC scores to make the score 2-1. Good play by Cornet as he had two Texas Stars players all over him and he still got a good backhand away that went in top shelf.
Goal scored by Philippe Cornet with assists to Kirill Tulupov & Taylor Chorney.
Antti Tyrvainen takes a goalie interference penalty.
OKC scores a shorthanded goal to make the score 3-1 for the Barons. It was a 2 on 1 shorthanded rush.
Goal scored by Hunter Tremblay (his 5th shorty of the season) with the lone assist to Chris Vandevelde who fed him the pass.
The Barons finish off the first period by killing off most of a minor slashing penalty to Ryan Keller.
---
Mostly back and forth play early in the second with not a lot of note. Texas had one good scoring chance that LeNeveu looked back in the net and was not certain he had it.
The Stars take a penalty and the OKC power play goes to work for the first time in the game. A couple decent chances, but nothing too dangerous and the Barons fail to convert on the man advantage.
Forgot to mention a good rush last period by Bryan Rodney that forced the goalie to make a good save. Sounded like Rodney had a solid period.
Chorney with a high sticking penalty. The Barons PK goes to work for the 4th time tonight. Colten Teubert with a big shot block. Barons kill it off.
Gazdic of the Stars takes two close big runs at Tulupov. The next shift Tristan Grant comes out and runs Gazdic a couple times in a row back and then Grant scraps him. Sounded like Grant was chucking them pretty hard. Tristan Grant gets an extra 2 minutes for clipping. Barons headed for their fifth time shorthanded. OKC kills this one off as well and the PK has been strong tonight.
Texas is putting on good pressure now and coming hard at the Barons but they are not panicking and are holding them off confidently. They also got help from the goalie LeNeveu had back to back big saves with one being of you got robbed variety.
Antti Tyrvainen streaks down the wing and lets go of a hard slapper, forcing the goalie to make a solid save.
The Barons get their second power play of the game and put on some decent pressure but fail to score.
---
Texas coming hard again on the Barons and they handling it pretty well.
The Stars now swarming the net, LeNeveu makes a save and then is out down and out. Ryan Martindale swoops in and steals a puck away that was just about to go over the line in the half open net. Martindale then skates it out and feeds the puck over to defenseman Dylan Yeo. OKC scores to make it 4-1 now!
Goal scored by Dylan Yeo with the lone assist to Ryan Martindale.
That is a 2 point night (both were primary assists) for Martindale and easily his best AHL game so far this season.
Antti Tyrvainen takes a boarding penalty. The OKC PK goes work again and the penalty kill for the Barons has been busy tonight. Texas scores to make it 4-2 now.
I am sure some are wondering and yes Paajarvi has had a very quiet night tonight, hardly touching the puck at all. He is -1 and has 2 shots on net but neither shot were anything worth mentioning.
The Stars are desperate and continue to come at the Barons hard this period.
Colten Teubert roughing Stars players up down low hardcore by the sounds of it and making life for them miserable. I must say he is good at this and seems to be able to do it without taking many penalties.
Hunter Tremblay sets up Tyler Pitlick for shot from the slot area.
Magnus Paajarvi shows some life skating around the O zone a bit and getting a pretty good shot on net.
Tanner House with a big shot block and another nice defensive play after that.
With just a little over 2 minutes left in the game Tristan Grant takes a penalty (interference) and the Stars also pull their goalie for a 6 on 4 power play.
Texas scores to make it 4-3 with 53 seconds left in the game.
Vandevelde steals the puck and was about to fire it at the open net when he was hooked, so the Stars take a penalty with 4 seconds left.
OKC holds on to win 4-3!
Looks like the Barons are getting things back on track the last few games and hopefully it continues down the stretch and into the playoffs. Nice win.
Three Stars:
1. OKC - H. Tremblay
2. OKC - R. Martindale
3. TEX - F. Wathier
Coincidence...but yet ironic. My buddy Tulupov gets back into the line-up & they start winning again.

The more accurate would be since Omark's recall they have had points in every game I think.
Tulupov is probably a bit rusty. But the past two nights he has had giveaways that lead directly to a goal (Friday), and last night he had a giveaway that led to OKC not.being able to get the puck out, which they scored on after. He hasn't played for 6 games or so, so I won't be too overly critical on him.
Had some family stuff to do today so I did not listen to the game.
The lone Barons goal in the game was scored by Josh Green with assists to Ryan Keller & Bryan Rodney.
Hunter Tremblay & Magnus Paajarvi scored in the shoot out.
Cornet, Green, Keller, Arcobello and Pitlick all failed in their SO attempts.
Yann Danis was in net.
Players with the highest shots on net totals were:
Keller 8 (!)
Arcobello 4
Chorney, Pitlick, Green, Cornet all had 3
Paajarvi 2
Colten Teubert got in a scrap today with David McIntyre in the first period.
Looks like the healthy scratches were Kirill Tulupov and Cam Abney.
Kind of amusing that OKC out shot Houston 37 to 23 and came within a hair of winning the game in a shoot out yet the homers picked all 3 star selections from Aeros.

Bigos' season is over at Merrimack. We should find out soon if we'll see him in OKC to end the season.
I can't say I know anything about him other than a handful of blog bits I've read, but I don't think there's much room for another defenseman on the team right now, especially if Plante makes it back.
Also how has Harski done in Edmonton recently? Will we get him back for the playoffs?

He's looked really good. He's definately noticeable out there when it comes to making things happen on the offensive side of things. Much like last season's call-up.
I think the Oilers will be forced to send him back once Eager is set to return.

Hartikainen can easily dress ahead of Hordichuk and Hall is out for at least a few more games. Don't expect him back to OKC in the next week at least.
That was pretty cool thanks for sharing. I did not notice Omark do that much though. A little shove and was he the one they bleeped a couple swear words on it?
I don't think I will be doing a report on the Barons game tonight. Both the OKC and Oilers game starts about the same time. So if anyone else wants to fill in, go for it. Go Barons!
VandeVelde was sensational tonight. Just an absolute force out there. He made some plays, in the first and second periods especially, that reminded me of Datsyuk and Crosby.
That's not to suggest he's anywhere near their level or ever will be, but he looked like it on those individual plays. Excellent, excellent night.

He's really undervalued and underappreciated. This whole season he has quietly done his job night in night out. His stats don't give him justice, he's a player you have to see live to really see how valuable he is. Good on the dot, arguably best PK'er on the team, and has skill to still be dangerous offensively.
If you have Vande Velde as your 4th line C in this league, you have a very deep/good team. His play has made the loss of O'Marra much less painful. He's even ramped his physical play this season.
Speaking of physicality, tonight was a pretty soft game. Neither team really seemed to take the body consistently. I'm hoping these two teams will grow some bad blood for a rivalry in due time, but games like tonight make me doubt that it will happen anytime soon. Atleast OKC came away with no injuries though.
Chris Vandevelde was called up to Edmonton. Ryan Martindale takes his place.
Healthy scratch: Kirill Tulupov.
Injured scratches: Andrew Lord, Curtis Hamilton, Alex Plante, Dan Ringwald.
The Oilers web team apparently have Head Coach Todd Nelson mic'd up tonight for a video feature on the Oil site.
Yann Danis with the start again in net.
Starting line up for the Barons Tremblay-Arcobello-Pitlick and on the blue line Chorney & Helmer.
Arcobello feeds Ryan Keller for an early scoring chance.
Second shift of the game Josh Green picks up a tripping penalty and the Barons PK goes to work early in this one. Barons kill it off.
Colten Teubert with a solid hit taking out his man and separating him from the puck.
Paajarvi with good hustle to nullify what would have been icing and all in one move he sets up Ryan Keller for a good scoring chance in the slot.
Tristan Grant just misses on what would have been a huge hit.
Tremblay and Chorney working the puck around back and forth for most of an entire shift and controlling the play with offensive pressure.
OKC scores to make it 1-0.
Goal scored by Mark Arcobello with assists to Hunter Tremblay & Taylor Chorney.
Tyrvainen with a hard hit along the boards.
Colten Teubert roughs up and knocks down a Griffins player and then Teubert slashes his stick out of his hand and gets a penalty. The penalty kill goes back to work. With 40 seconds left in the man advantage Grand Rapids takes a too many men on the ice penalty.
Tyler Pitlick left all alone in the slot gets a shot off and the Griffins goalie makes a good save. Seconds later Pitlick gets set up again but fires the wide of the net.
Tristan Grant lifts a back hand shot from fairly far out and puts it on net. OKC scores to make it 2-0.
Goal scored by Tristan Grant with assists to Josh Green & Bryan Helmer.
Grand Rapids take a roughing penalty right off the face off after being scored on. The Barons take a penalty about a minute in to wipe out the power play.
---
The period starts with 4 on 4 hockey. Bryan Helmer goes up to cover the point, no one covers up for him and a Griffin unchecked roofs one over Danis. So Grand Rapids cuts the Barons lead in half at 2-1.
OKC scores to make it 3-1.
Goal scored by Magnus Paajarvi with assists to Josh Green & Ryan Keller.
The goal by MPS was a tip-in off a Josh Green shot. The announcers said the Griffins goalie played it pretty poorly.
Pitlick sets up Tremblay in the slot and the goalie had to make a big save and barely got it. Later in the shift the seas part and Pitlick busts in for another good scoring chance. Apparently Pitlick thought he should have done better as he was pissed at himself.
Antti Tyrvainen takes a cross-checking penalty. Less than 40 seconds into the kill Anton Lander fires the puck over the glass. So Grand Rapids is going on a 5 on 3 power play.
The Griffins score almost immediately off the face off on the 5 on 3 with a cross crease back door play. Grand Rapids again cuts down the Barons lead and makes the score 3-2.
Ryan Martindale sets up Colten Teubert in the slot for a good scoring chance.
Antti Tyrvainen nattering at Garnett Exelby and getting under his skin. Later in the shift Exelby a dumb cross-checking penalty on Tyrvainen. The Barons do not convert on the man advantage.
The Griffins take a tripping penalty. Garnett Exelby did not take the penalty, but was pissed off about the penalty and beaks off to the referee about it and causes a full two minute 5 on 3 power play against his team for being an idiot.
The Barons score on the 5 on 3 power play to make the score 4-2.
Goal was scored by Philippe Conet on a tip-in from a big blast from Bryan Rodney at the point and Ryan Keller picked up the second assist.
When the goal was scored Exelby got out of penalty box. The ref made him go back in the box and let the other player out I guess as a screw you from the ref for him being a pain the back side haha.
Ryan Keller takes a tripping penalty and the period ends with 40 seconds left on the Grand Rapids PP.
Shots at the end of two are 25-21 in favour of the Griffins.
---
I missed the first couple minutes of the 3rd period and the Barons scored 1:24 into the period to take a commanding 5-2 lead now.
Goal scored by Josh Green with assists to Magnus Paajarvi & Bryan Rodney.
A bunch of back and forth play with not a lot of note to report on.
Antti Tyrvainen takes an elbowing penalty. The Barons kill it.
Shortly after killing the above penalty Tristan Grant an elbowing penalty. The Barons PK comes up with the goods again and kills another one.
There is a scrum right after Grant gets out of the box and Tristan Grant grabs Exelby and lays shots on him and knocks him down to the ice with them. The refs broke it up and Exelby sneaks in a couple shots when Grant was tied up by the refs. But the colour man said Exelby is right handed and those last shots were with his left, so he said that is like getting hit by a lady's purse haha.
Game is getting pretty chippy, could end up being an interesting re-match tomorrow when these two teams go at it again.
Colten Teubert buries a Griffin player and Tyrvainen follows that up with a nice hit along the boards.
Both teams just playing out the string for the last few minutes and neither team really making a push. Just dumping it into each others zone to kill the clock.
OKC wins 5-2!
With 13 games left in the season the Barons now have more points then they finished with for all of last season.
The Barons had one of their biggest crowds of the season with 5,398 in the building tonight.
Three Stars: 1. OKC - Josh Green
2. OKC - Bryan Rodney
3. OKC - Yann Danis

Both the Oil game and the Barons game were late afternoon starts so I watched the Oilers game.
But in their rematch with Grand Rapids the Barons lost 4-1.
David LeNeveu was in net.
Barons goal scored by Antti Tyrivainen with assists to Bryan Rodney & Philippe Cornet.
Bryan Rodney seems to finally be heating up with putting offense on the board and making more of a positive impact.
I thought after the game was so chippy last night that it would carrry over to today. But apparently not as their were only 6 two minute minor penalties for hooking and high sticking. Out of the six penalties the Barons took 5 of them and gave up one power play goal and an empty net goal to finish things off.
Even though OKC out shot the Griffins 44-34 and the game was in their home barn, they did not get any game star choices. So I assume GR carried the play?
Shot leaders for the Barons were Josh Green with 6 shots, Ryan Keller & Magnus Paajarvi had 5 shots, Teubert/Tremblay/ Lander had 4 shots.
