Coach Nelson has always talked so highly of Tremblay. I mentioned before how one day I could see him making the NHL.

I see SJ assigned Alex Stalock to Stockton, might be bad news for Roy.

OKC Barons vs Rochester Americans 1/20/12

Injured players are Tristan Grant, Linus Omark, Kirill Tulupov, Ryan Lowery, Andrew Lord, Tyler Pitlick, Alex Plante.

Injury update - Tyler Pitlick and Kirill Tulupov are both on the road trip due back soon from injury. Alex Plante has go through some stuff with the doctor on the ice back in OKC and if that goes well get in a practice before he can be fully cleared to play.

Yann Danis gets the start in net again tonight.

Taylor Chorney drops the gloves with Igor Gongalsky of the Americans in a short scrap.

Barons Dman Andrew Martens rings an early shot off of the goal post.

Antti Tyrvainen getting into it after the whistle with a couple Amerks players. Some of the dislike and chippy stuff from last game seems to be bleeding over into this one.

OKC scores to take a 1-0 lead.

Goal scored by Barons Dman Dylan Yeo on a nice feed and lone assist from Teemu Hartikainen. Harski faked the shot, delayed and passed it over to Yeo.

OKC scores again a minute or two later to make it 2-0!

Goal scored once again (by the nephew of Dave Manson) Dylan Yeo with assists to Taylor Chorney & Philippe Cornet.

The Barons go on the PK. Hunter Tremblay controls the puck short handed for nearly the entire first half of the Amerks power play. Followed by a partial break away chance on net by Tanner House.

Rochester finishes the last bit of the power play with back to back to back good scoring chances but Yann Danis shuts the door.

Cameron Abney getting into a with Gongolsky who fought Chorney at the start of the period. Probably seeing if he wants to fight someone a little more his size.

Hunter Tremblay sets up Chorney for a dangerous shot on net that the goalie had trouble and it dribbled wide of the net.

Foligno from Rochester with a bit of a blind side hit on Tyrvainen and Cameron Abney roughs up Foligno afterward.

Rochester takes a penalty in the dying seconds of the first period.

---

Barons no conversion on the PP.

Rochester come hard on offense. Cam Abney coughs up the puck multiple times in his own zone but Yann Danis and his linemate Milan Kytnar bail him out.

Lennart Petrell and Hunter Tremblay team up for a good shift that resulted in three scoring chances.

Hartikainen and Tanner House follow up the above shift with another good shift that produces a couple solid scoring chances.

Antti Tyrvainen is getting in slashing, pushing and verbal battles with Amerk players every single shift now. That pesky Finn is great at getting under teams skin.

Curtis Hamilton skates in on a potential scoring chance but is stripped of the puck at the last second with a nice defensive play by a Rochester D.

Yann Danis again coming up with some nice saves.

Teemu Hartikainen with a dominant puck possession shift.

A Rochester player with a dangerous sounding hit from behind. Hamilton was okay and came back at the player. Cameron Abney jumped in and tried to get about three different Amerks players to go with him. But no takers and Abney gets a 10 minute misconduct penalty. Zack Kassian also got a ten minute misconduct for Rochester.

Shots are 16-15 in favour of OKC at the end of two. Still 2-0 Barons.

---

I missed the first 5 minutes of the third period. But at the start of period, just a minute in Rochester scored to cut the Barons lead down to 2-1. (Later on I heard an audio replay of this goal, it was caused by a brutal giveaway in his own zone by Teemu Hartikainen.)

Apparently at some point Chris Vandevelde left the game. But the announcer is not sure when or why he left.

An Amerks player shoots the puck over the glass and OKC heads to the power play. Lots of pressure from the Barons but they fail to convert and are 0 for 4 in the game.

Milan Kytnar with apparently a pretty wicked accidental high stick on a Rochester player who went down and the Barons immediately rush down the ice and score seconds afterward. Barons now lead 3-1.

Goal scored by Curtis Hamilton with assists from Ryan Keller & Milan Kytnar.

That is weird with the high sticking non-call and immediate goal. The exact same thing happened to the Barons last night against this same team. Now the tables turned. This goal was a little more important though.

The Amerks pull their goalie and almost immediately afterwards they score to make it 3-2!

OKC losing key draws here late in the period with no Vandevelde and no O'Marra dominating the face off circle.

Rochester puts the goalie back in for the face off, he starts to leave the net, OKC steals the puck and gets a partial break away so he has to rush back into the net and gets scored on anyway. OKC regain their 2 goal cushion.

Goal scored by Hunter Tremblay unassisted.

OKC wins a big one 4-2 and sweep the previously hot Rochester Americans.

I believe this win puts the Barons back into 1st overall by one point (the standings section on the AHL site is down so I can not double check that).

Three Stars:
1. OKC - Dyaln Yeo
2. OKC - Yann Danis
3. RCH - Paul Szczechura

OKC vs Lake Erie Monsters 1/21/12

Injured players are Tristan Grant, Linus Omark, Ryan Lowery, Andrew Lord, Alex Plante, Chris Vandevelde.

Vandevelde was cut on the arm by a skate in last nights game. Coach Nelson said it was not serious and they are keeping him out more as precaution than anything else.

Tyler Pitlick and Kirill Tulupov return from injury tonight.

Kevin Montgomery the only healthy scratch tonight.

The last game against Lake Erie was very physical and chippy. Head coach Todd Nelson said before the game it is going to be a physical one tonight and Kirill Tulupov is wound up like and he hopes he can just keep him calm enough tonight to play the system haha.

Third game in three days.

David LeNeveu gets the start in net.

Curtis Hamilton gets crushed by a big hit. Cameron Abney tries to make the player that hit him fight. He then went after another Lake Erie player Scott Langdon and they were about to fight but the linesmen jumped in on both guys and would not let them fight. Both guys get unsportsmanlike conduct penalties.

Abney and Langdon get out of the penalty box and immediately drop the mitts. It was not a long fight, both guys got some rights in and then wrestled each other down to the ground. Sounded like a saw off as far as who won the fight.

Teemu Hartikainen fans on a good scoring chance deep in the slot, right in front of the goalie on a nice feed from Antti Tyrvainen.

Two panes of glass have fallen out on routine body checks already in this game. Someone forgot righty tighty apparently.

I would tell you more about the Barons offensive chances but they only have 2 shots in 12+ minutes of play. They are starting off a little slow on offense.

The tables Tyrvainen fans on a set up in the slot from Hartikainen. Tyrvainen then has another scoring chance off of a Tanner House set up.

Score is zip-zip at the end of one. Shots are 9-6 in favour of Lake Erie.

---

Tyler Pitlick busts in through the slot but his backhand shots goes just wide of the post.

Hunter Tremblay walks around a Lake Erie defender and knifes a shot in net forcing the Monster goalie to make a big save. Mark Arcobello got a swipe at the rebound.

Antti Tyrvainen puts a Lake Erie player in a headlock and they wrestle around. Both get roughing penalties.

OKC scores to take a 1-0 lead.

Goal scored by Philippe Cornet with the lone assist to Ryan Keller.

On the goal Tyler Pitlick had a nice hit on the play which squirted the puck away from the player he hit over to Keller who fed Cornet for the goal. Cornet apparently did something resembling the Peter Forsberg shoot out move on the goal, getting the goalie going one way and putting it in the net with one hand on the stick going the other way.

Lake Erie thought they scored, the horn went on and everything but the ref ruled that it was kicked in the net. Then the refs talked after the decision was made it the other ref overruled him and said it was a good goal. The score is tied 1-1 now.

Kirill Tulupov gets totally undressed and walked around but LeNeveu comes up with a big save.

A Lake Erie defenseman blows a tire and falls down. Cameron Abney as a result gets to walk in on net all alone but shoots the puck just wide of the net.

Barons Dman Dan Ringwald with a big point shot that Pitlick deflects just wide. Hopefully some of these chances start hitting the net haha.

Teemu Hartikainen with a big hit in the dying seconds of the 2nd period.

Shots at the end of two are 17-12 in favour of the Monsters.

---

Tyler Pitlick with a wrap around that Ryan Keller nearly banged home.

Hunter Tremblay rings a shot off the outside of the goal post.

Teemu Hartikainen lets a shot go in the slot but it goes wide of the net. Immediately after the shot Hartikainen was run into the boards from behind and Antti Tyrvainen jumps the LE player who hit him. Teemu gets up sore and rubbing his kidney area. The Monsters player that hit Harski from behind gets a 5 minute major penalty for boarding and a game misconduct.

OKC scores just seconds into the major penalty.

Goal scored and his second of the game by Philippe Cornet with the lone assist to Ryan Keller. Barons now lead 2-1 and are still on the power play.

Hartikainen is back and apparently okay.

Barons Dman on a collision or something, not sure went off the ice apparently hurt and went straight back to the locker room.

Lake Erie with back to back power plays and they are putting on the offensive pressure pretty hard now and controlling the play.

The Monsters pull their goalie and are all over the Barons, the Barons bend but are not breaking.

Ryan Keller lobs a puck high just to get out of the zone. It went down and bounced and an LE player apparently tried to kick the puck out of harms way and it took a bounce off his foot and went into the empty net.

OKC wins 3-1.

The Barons have a 4 point lead on first place in the AHL now.

Three Stars:
1. OKC - Ryan Keller
2. OKC - Philippe Cornet
3. LE - Brad Malone

Holy crap Lake Erie must had one hell of a promotion of some sort tonight. Despite being in the bottom five in the league they had over 17 thousand fans tonight! That has to be the biggest AHL crowd I recall hearing of.

Are they really doing this well while only having one player in the top 40 scorers?

It's time to bring some of these guys up, including the coach.

It's clear they'll actually play to win.

#Oilers Omark will hit the ice for the first time today or tomorrow if he gets cleared to do so by the #OKCBarons doctors.

#OKCBarons sign d-man Dylan Yeo to a Standard Player Contract.

Looks like the coaches are pretty happy with the nephew of Dave Manson. He is sticking around for the season.
