NEWS & NOTES

QUOTES TO NOTE

Iím keeping my focus, Iím trying to do all the little things and the things we talked about at the beginning of the year. I feel like Iím moving my feet.
Obviously, it doesnít hurt to be playing with the guys Iím playing with.
- Brandon Dubinsky

If you want to be a top team in this league you have to expect a lot from everybody. You have to challenge each other. And that's what we are doing here.
We are building a winning identity, just like Boston and Detroit, teams that have been solid for years. And with me, it starts with my battle level. I want to compete hard out there.
- Henrik Lundqvist

I trust this group. I just donít want it to slip. We have so much more work to do with this club. I just donít want to get ahead of ourselves.
Weíre heading down the right road. I want to make sure we keep heading down the right road and not detour.
- John Tortorella

I also forgot to say that if we win, it will be the first time since the 1991-92 season that we got four five-game winning streaks in the same season, which is also our franchise record (also done in the 1972-73 srason I believe).

I saw this stat in another thread and I asked this question, I don't know if I got an answer and now I don't know where that thread is. So here's the question: does anyone know what the record is for 5 game winning streaks in a single season?

BTW, last time we played them I was underwhelmed by them. I know we barely won, but this is definitely a game we should win, we're better than them. However, that team traditionally is very defensive minded I can see a frustrating game.

Gotta keep rolling here.

Love that Torts didn't think the team brought the intensity and sent them off the ice for a minute today at practice. It's hard to bring fresh philosophies and make a team continue to work when they're in first place.

Phoenix isn't a particularly talented team, but strong goaltending and a heavy defensive approach have them in the thick of the playoff race. We should be able to win this one if we get pucks at the net. Smith has been good this year but he's coming off an injury and he's vulnerable to bad rebounds.

I'm not sure if it's the record, but Detroit had six in 1995-96.

Need a strong game. Hope Henke is in net for this one - feels like this is a game Torts would start Biron for.

I got an iffy feeling about this game..

Not jinxing anything but I fear a loss or an injury coming up in this game...

I prefer the former over the later...
