How excited are you?

After seeing some of your top prospects showcased at the WJC, I was just wondering how excited you, the fans of the Wild are to see these guys dawn your jerseys at some point or be used as trade bait to get you established players

I can't wait to see Charlie Coyle make the jump, I think he'll be one heck of a player for you guys.

i'm convinced that one or two of these guys will be traded before making the team, so I'd hold off on buying jerseys. We're stoked about our prospect pool TBH--it's the main reason most of us aren't too concerned with the Wild's recent collapse: the future is bright!

This will probably be moved into the official prospect thread, just to warn you.

My personal thoughts:

I am so excited for Granlund it is unreal. He is going to be that first line center that is finally here to push Koivu down to the second line so he can play his game the way he should, giving the Wild an amazing 1-2-3 punch down the middle(3rd center is detailed below).

Larsson, in my dreams, is our Staal. I've said it before and I'll say it again. This team has emulated Pittsburgh in just about everything. Granlund-Koivu-Larsson is going to be our version of Crosby-Malkin-Staal, and I am thoroughly convinced that these three can lead this team to a cup somewhere down the line.

Brodin, I am excited for but I have not been able to watch as much as I would like. Hopefully he can become a good/great #2 defender, or even a #1 guy. Not sure if he can reach that level, but I would really love to see him get there and help this team out. They clearly need it.

My opinion on Zucker went down from the WJC, but not by a whole lot. I still expect him to be a high end 3rd liner/good 2nd liner, similar to Malone down in Tampa Bay.

I'm a bit excited about Coyle, but not going crazy or anything. Hopefully he becomes a 1st liner similar to Hartnell or someone similar. I think he'll probably be a 1st/2nd line tweener, but I could see him going either way.

Thanks for the responses, I like to watch Minnesota's games because I'm a huge fan of Mikko just don't get the opportunity to watch many Wild games. You guys definitely have a solid foundation and will be an interesting team to watch going forward.

I've been told how great our prospects were for five years now when we had Pouliot, Voloshenko, O'Sullivan, Thelen, Sheppard, Gillies, Cuma, Leddy, etc all drafted and supposed to be NHL'ers but all of them were busts.

Until these guys actually hit the NHL and do something, I'm not holding my breath.

Not anymore.

Also, Leddy isn't a bust.

Okay, well busts for the Wild. Leddy got us Barker who was a bust. More like your parents getting you a shiny toy for Christmas and then exchanging it for a sweater.

It's more that I'm not buying what the Wild is selling blindly anymore. They need to prove it to me. They don't have any more equity.

Also, I'm a Minnesota sports fan. I'm used to crushing disappointment after building up hope. So I'm now eternally pessimistic when it comes to sports.

You know, it could happen.

Granlund and Zucker both seem like the smaller type of guys who will play edgy hockey and will run the risk of injuries doing so.

Coyle, Bullmer, and Larsson could end up just being deluxe 3rd line grinders who can't score.

Phillips might be too slow, and turn into Shep Jr.

Brodin might never become a scorer, and end up as a better version of Schultz.

Of course, this would be the worst case scenario

I don't see Zucker being a big power-forward type....he'll play more like what we see out of Wellman right now, but I think Zucker has better hands and more lateral agility. Probably also better one-on-one skills. vs defenders and vs. goalie.

You obviously can't hide your excitement. You're about to lose control, and I think you like it.

I think the next few years are going to be exciting, at least for me. I like watching young players develop so seeing these guys in the AHL or NHL will be a treat. Some will be frustrating as some will be busts (you stats guys can throw the %s out) but the ones that make it will become apart of our core.

As much excitement there is around Granlund, I am equally excited to see how Larsson's career will turn out.

Ah crap, forgot to say I'm more of a D man and can't wait until Brodin starts getting into the NHL. Hopefully we draft another Dman here this summer as well.

Larsson will be a huge asset on wing... he'll end up like Heatley has this season in providing such a great cushion in the faceoff circle when Koivu is tossed from it. Only, he may be the cushion for the FBJ?
