Some of our guys need to do some puck handling drills or something. The way they wiff on the puck is absolutely unreal. Game after game. Wideman especially. Do these guys just have 0 confidence right now or what?

its tough to find fault with a shutout even if you fell asleep in the 2nd.

I thought the caps didnt sit back in the 3rd, we changed it up. I saw quite a few even rushes where we did not dump it in. Defensemen moving up, Alzner in front for nail in the coffin... err crester, we brought the attack. I think Dale changed up the plan in the 3rd.

It seems like it will be a long time before Ovi gets a sniff at an ENG.

Ovi had a lot of sweet passes tonight. Dude came to play. Disappointed in MJ's inability to stay with the puck.

Backstrom's seriously spoiled me.

Its unfortunate he is so underappcreiated in the entire league.

Forgot who said this during the game today, but the dude was like "Maybe they will meet again in the playoffs, healthy... with Crosby and Green..... oh and backstrom too i guess"

Idiot.

More like a chess match the first two periods followed by a very entertaining third. TBH I thought the Caps would be bombarded in the third. Was glad they were aggressive.

Great third by Matt Hendricks.

Good on OV blocking in the defensive crease. Loved his game. He didn't stop at the boards in the offensive zone. Was darting across the ice creating space.

Props to Ward on that goal. He made the play. Hope he gets some more confidence.

Thanks Vokoun.

The young Czech on D helped to pitch a shutout.

Doc Emrick just does a great game, always. Best announcer in any sport.

Kudos to Hunter. He's slowly teaching them D and how to take advantage.

I know it's a win against an injury ravaged Pens team but I'll enjoy it nonetheless. You can't tell me they weren't motivated for a variety of reasons too. And the Caps were missing two of their best players too.

I don't know if its already been posted (too lazy to skim through here), but how do u guys think Kundratek looked?

I thought he was kind of decent and didn't really stand out much. The beginning of the game he looked a little shaky but that was expected.

On another not does anyone know if Hunter's system has started to be used in Hershey? As a Bears fan I don't think it has been and it made me think about Kundratek playing in this game on one practice and barely knowing the system.

Caps were getting confidence during the 4-game streak. Then the Cali debacle rattled them. Dale had them play a back-to-basics game here, and they won, and as their confidence built, they opened it up a bit. Looks like the last homestand. Here's hoping another home win streak is in the offing and that they can carry it on the road next time.

Was that post sarcastic or are you being serious?

I think if you took any game from the 4 we won in a row, I'd say those are better examples of the team playing like a team.

We were a little sloppy tonight (and against LA as well). We let the Pens push us a bit in the first.

That's the best you got? Childish insults? Weaker than my 6 month old.

You come on with the sole purpose of criticizing the discussion going on about the game? Some are a little more bitter than others, but you can't really believe they played outstanding hockey? What bothers you really kid? Any criticism at all, valid or not?

I thought he did okay and I thought Hamr kept him out of trouble. The kid made an excellent pass play at the blueline on one shift to send them on their way.

I would say every single game we play under DH is a great example of a "team playing like a team."

As you put it.

Hey I said it myself...Ugly, but a win's a win. That's what matters most. Doesn't mean people can't discuss the good and the bad in the game.

Not directed at you...

I don't understand some that feel like they have to censor others. Don't like it? GTFO....

That's about the best you can usually hope for for an inexperienced callup. Kept his head down and made the simple plays. I thought he was OK enough for spot duty.

Come on kid....you must have better than this. Any relevant hockey points you can quickly Google to talk about? I'll check back...may take you a while.

Shutout to get back in the PO against the Pens and knock them out. Good to see TVo not blow a shutout on his own either. Nice but more work to go.

Ok serious question since I can't figure out any other way to see just how infatuated some people are.

Who thinks the Caps are currently playing like a Stanley Cup contender? I'll even let you assume Backstrom and even Green come back healthy.

Nope we have to add a few pieces and then we will be a contender. #2C is the biggest issue. I am happy we got the shutout win but it also came against a very injury riddled Pittsburgh team that will be looking to make moves to get into the "Playoff Hunt"

Right now they don't.

Doesn't mean that they can't improve down the road.
