I still say it's the groin. He scored 30 something goals last year so his hands can't be that bad.

I'm just reserving judgment until March. He's about where he was before stat-wise, and as a season wears on, having the ability to turn on the jets becomes more and more useful. I think/hope he'll trend upward from here, but the differences in Nielsen's strengths last season and where Bailey is at this season may require an adjustment to how he approaches his game.

Last year, it was the Nielsen/Grabner chemistry that got them both going. How does Bailey factor into this? If it becomes an ice-time question, Bailey gets on average 3 minutes less, but Frans has twice the points. I'm not against putting Grabner - Bailey - Martin together; in fact I think they can all benefit from eachothers style. I just hope that the chemistry translates into points - 2/3rds of that line is supposed to factor strongly into point production, and they have to start soon if there's any chance of not being behind Carolina, Montréal and Winnipeg in the standings.

he was just as bad/good as in the last game. People are quite frustrated with his production.

Let's be honest here, I think most of us realize he will basically score on 1 of 5 good chances, problem was up till 3 games ago he wasn't getting many chances. it definitely looks like he has been on his game the past few games(ie getting alot of chances)

It could be a confidence issue in his finishing abilties. Scoring some EN and garbage goals can definitely help get rid of those confidence issues.

1) Grabner was dealing with the groin injury (as other posters have already made dully noted).

2) Teams have FAR MORE game tape on Michael and thus their defense is far more prepared.

That being said, Grabner is appearing to be healthy again and when going full tilt the opportunities are there again. They are there again in spades and regardless of teams being prepared you are going to have a hard time defending speed.

We all know that Grabs hands never seem to catch up with his feet. However, if you noticed Grabs first goal last night against the Sabres... That was a display of patients, hands and going to the dirty areas.

I think we are going to continue to see Grabs flourish and be a consistent 30 goal type of player.

He seems to be back now, and has been for a few games but even before that when people were getting on his case he was still on pace for 20-25 goals and for a second liner making 1 million I'd say that that is still very good. I think he can finish with 25-30 which is a great scenario.

Yes i think so too!
Last year was great, the Nominated for CALDER Trophy and than the "Super Skate Competition", and to the end he was under the BEST 5 ROOKIES 2011 in NHL-ALL ROOKIE TEAM ,this think(ALL Rookie Team) can do it once time in his live and he brought it.
This year ,he has a groin injury and than though wen he hits the post(5 Times)Let's 2 more go in target, than he have 15 Goals.
Now he has 13 Goals ,for example Jagr has 12 St.Louis 10,P.Kane 10..he is better(Goals) than a many Player with a bigger Name.

He also mainly scored in the 2nd half last season, if he does that again he'll finish with 30 for sure.

He'll be fine, I'm predicting 25 goals this season at least. The groin injury deff slowed him down for awhile.

Last year he had 25 in his final 40. If he gets within 5-10 of that its a good year.

Last Game he played very good for the defens i think. He worked hard ,the one think is he places too much breakaway chances. But however, he has 14 Goals and this is good Stats.3rd place in the team ranking. He is a good NHL Player ,i think he is under the top 50-100 Forwards in NHL!

I thought he had a horrific first period last night. I can't stand how poor he is at picking up loose pucks along the boards.

Most college kids are better at it than he is.

Teams can be mindful of Grabner all they want. Let's face it -- every game the Isles play, you know that the opposition makes it a point to spend a few minutes talking about Grabner and how to combat his speed.

As evident by the last 6 or 7 games or so, IT DOESN'T MATTER!!!

When he is going, he is so fast that defensemen still can't contain him.

He's coming back to form. 2-3 breakaways a game. Some great chances otherwise. Big goal(s) vs. Buffalo. Short-handed chances.

The pucks will start to be buried.

Than must the Islanders trade college Kids..!
But the college kids must score 21 Points in 42 Games!
Now come on, Grabner is a good boy.He is not one of the best but He worked hard on Ice and his defens work in MOMENT is Great !

I think his feet are faster than his brain which explains why he has problems on the breakaways. He needs to start looking at the back of the net and picturing the puck there. I used to have the same issue when I was playing and then one day it clicked.... I knew I was scoring instead of hoping I was scoring. I wonder if there is any open positions on the coaching staff ????

Grabner's a one trick pony. He's fast, but isn't a finisher, has mediocre hockey sense, not great in the defensive zone.
