detroit has iggy pop and johnny lee hooker. thats pretty much all. wont cry for lids.
how about ducks? no history, no identity. just donald duck and pile of cash. no cry.

however.. ANA - DAL game yesterday (Ott 1+1 btw). ducks gwg.. freaking selanne supercharged past defenders so fast it made me sick. (He dropped an excellent pass to that ex - montreal - midget guy and game was over)

how on earth can that 41 old creep do that??? cannot even be juiced considering his international resume.
only possible solution -> his blades must have extremely flat grinding.

Nope. They didn't play for any teams I care very much about.

I didn't cry when Yzerman retired soooo, no. But it will be a very sad day in Detroit.

There will be a celebration of his career here and he will probably stay on the Wings staff.

Why would I cry when any NHL player retires?

Think the last time I had a good cry watching hockey was when Raymond Bourque lifted the Cup.

I might get misty, at which point the emotion-control circuits will kick in and make me plan a planetary takeover.

Where is the 'No, crying because a hockey player retires is ridiculous' option?

I'll be sad, but Brodeur > Lidstrom and Jagr > Selanne. Where's the love for them?

That's pretty much option 5.

Yeah, I'm going to cry because two players that torched my team for decades, made millions of dollars and won multiple Stanley Cups combined are deciding to relax for the rest of their lives.

They're two of the very best, and along with Jagr they represent the last stand for the former regime of stars. It'll be a sad day when they leave, but no tears from me.

I don't think anybody will cry here, but all the non-haters will most likely feel a bit sad.

No they're just hockey players and have never played on my team. I recognize them as greats but I'm not like ";___; NOW THE AGE OF LIDSTROM HAS PASSED GO INTO THE GENTLE NIGHT SWEET PRINCE"

There is no reason for crying... Some players retire every year, but there are young, promising players crashing into the league every year as well, that's life.
