Grossman likely won't get a first round pick until the deadline. With out a bidding war, if he was to be a rental, a 2nd rounder and a decent prospect would be my current asking price if I was Nieuwendyk. However, Dallas isn't in a position where they must move him now, infact I believe they're in the middle of the playoff pack, and I'd hold on to him until I knew what the Stars were likely to do. In that time, interest for Grossman will increase, I'm sure, and it is one of those situations where the longer he is held onto, the higher his value will go. Young, shut down D, regardless of being "overly quick or physical", especially ones playing as high a level as Grossman is, aren't traded for cheap, and likely wouldn't be a rental for the team recieving him.

So what you are saying is....

By the way, is 2nd and a prospect considers cheap for someone like Grossman or Gleason? To everyone that wants to share opinion.

Id take Hall Gil 6'7 240 or Andy"you a expert" Sutton 6'6 240 ..Like too add both those 18" wheelers for the playoffs one each to protect Gonchar and Karlsson we all know the way Boston plays

People always think their guy is special and will return more than the standard because of a bidding war or something of that nature. The thing is, "standard value" already takes this into account.

And he's a Plymouth Whaler, which means we'll throw in our 1st to acquire him.

No interest in using Puempel/Noesen/1st round pick to acquire any of the rentals(no matter how good they are). Would be better off just getting either depth players, backup goalie or nothing.

I hope Ottawa bows right out on all three if these are realistic prices. No need to abandon rebuilding because we're better this year than we thought. Let's just be patient.

Ottawa doesn't need another left side defenseman unless one goes down with a long term injury. Cowen, Phillips and Kuba are just fine.

If the Sens upgrade on D it will be on the right side with someone who is a clear upgrade over Lee/Carkner. These guys are great 6th/7th guys and should stay in thge squad but another RH shot on the PP would be handy. Pavel Kubina would be the guy to target IMHO. Perhaps we could offer to take Roloson and his $3.5m off their hands to sweeten the deal - he'd be a reliable PO backup for Anderson.

I had forgotten about that. I assume he's older and wiser not to limit his options, but yeah, that probably still is in effect.

2nd/3rd for gill. I'd gladly take a legit prospect instead. Maybe not a blue chip guy but a guy with real upside who fills a need for montreal then sure.

Hal Gill is a pylon. Andy Sutton we've had and let him go. Gleason doesn't want to play for Ottawa.

Why would we want any of those 3?

Lee shouldn't be traded. The Sens have 3 left side defensemen, 3 right side defenseman, and Brian Lee who can play either side or forward if need be. As I've posted, the need for the playoffs would be a right-side, right-handed defenseman who can take that Lee/Carkner spot and also some PP minutes.

A pylon with a deadly-laser stick of a 15-feet radius.

My kind of pylon.

Grossman has had a bad year. He's not worth that. Hasn't played like a top 4 guy. And I'm a Stars fan.

I'd be ecstatic if we got a 1st for Grossman.

But I'd rather move Robidas right now; we've already seen the best he has to offer.

Grossman....hopefully not.

I like this post. Both players would be great additions(not sure if Roloson is an ug, but better then Auld). The question is, can we land this without wasting a major prospect or 1st round pick on.

Hall Gill is for sell.(If i was PG atleast...)

A pick or Stone does it !
Would love to see puempel tho,

And for Grossman i think a 1st is a bit of a overpay but i see him as a great top 4 shutdown role. Much like Josh Gorges.

I'd be very disappointed if Murray traded Puempel or Stone - especially for Hal freaking Gill.

Modo, have you seen that thread in the lounge regarding some request of yours from a couple years ago? Everyone's waiting for you.

I 100% agree with this. We're not even close to contending and we have so many young players that I'd much rather be knocked out in the first and give all these kids playoff experience than acquiring Gill to take Carkner and Lee's spot on the blueline.
