Trading for Gleason vs L.Schenn vs Other

Obviously there are a lot of rumors about JVR for Schenn.

Also, Flyers were interested Gleason. Gleason won't cost JVR. Probably a pick and a prospect or young player maybe even Gus or Bourdon.

What would you like to see? POINT IS GLEASON VS SCHENN and what we have to trade for EITHER.
Quote:
One name that has popped up recently is Carolina’s Tim Gleason. There likely isn’t a piece on the Hurricanes’ roster that general manager Jim Rutherford would not consider moving - and Gleason is included on that list.

Gleason, 28, is interesting for a few reasons. He has played 162 games under the watchful eye of Peter Laviolette in Carolina. He is a steady (and over the last 2 seasons, durable) defender who is not flashy but brings a lunchpail to the rink every night. And Gleason is affordable. He is playing out the last year of a 4-year, $11 million deal, which carries a pro-rated salary cap hit of $2.75 million for the rest of the season.

I voted Gleason because of one reason. Ryan Suter. If we get Schenn his contract might be detrimental to us making a big play for Suter at the deadline or in free agency. Of course that could change if Suter is locked up long term but as of right now I would much much rather have Suter then Schenn. Gleason is cheaper and would cost less too

You can say whatever.. You can't vote

I didn't include Gill because I do not think he will be long term solution and he won't cost as much.

I took two comparable (imo) players. Just wan to see fans opinion.
Plus there was no talk about Gill.

Don't want to move JVR for Schenn or anyone unless its Weber/Suter. Honestly I would prefer to keep the picks too unless its for Weber/Suter. So if they could get someone for a prospect and a low draft pick (like 4th round or lower) then yeah. I really think not using the 1st - 3rd rounders this yr would be a huge mistake unless you can get a franchise D-man in a trade.

I like the idea of having Luke Schenn on this team. I think he is going to be a damn good shut down guy in a couple years. I just don't like the idea of what we would have to give up to get him.

Schenn will improve here much the same way Mez and Carle did. I'd take Schenn and I would trade JVR for him.

I voted for Schenn. More because i do not want the Flyers trading assets for a rental they are unlikely to sign. What is the point? They are not favorites. I would rather see Gus get the playing time.

I would rather have Gleason because it gives us the most flexibility should we have a shot at Weber or Suter. Re-signing Gleason probably doesn't cost you much more than Carle makes right now so there may be a chance to acquire Gleason and re-sign him and then also add Suter as a UFA (though probably at the expense of Jagr.

Having Luke around will make Brayden develop into a better player. Also, Gleason would just be a rental, and there is no reason to give up any assets for a rental since there is no way the Flyers are winning the Cup this year.

How can you possibly come to this conclusion. I actually believe that it would benefit Schenn not having his brother around.

We should go after Gleason and attempt to re-sign him in the offseason over Carle. That would be such a win-win situation for the flyers. If the flyers trade JVR for Schenn it will be such a horrible trade for us. You don't give up on an injured JVR this early, especially not for a shutdown D.

I haven't actually seen any proof that the flyers are looking at Schenn. I have seen plenty of "speculation though" and Burke saying he wants JVR.

Gleason because the price is going to be significantly cheaper. Gleason, or pony up for Suter/Weber.

Beauchemin. Resign for 2 years.

I just don't think Weber or Suter are obtainable at a reasonable cost.

Shea Weber - sure it's a pipe dream but if we are going to start trading off these "future of the org" players after we sign them to ridiculous contracts we are going to end up having trouble signing anyone long term - so we might as well maximize what we get in return if we are going to do it

1. Beauchemin
2. Gleason
3. Schenn (if it does not cost us JVR or Voracek)

Then trade for Suter's or Weber's rights in the offseason. Sign whoever.

Someone on the cheap and who isn't going to cost us a good prospect. So a Gleason, Beauchemin or maybe Jurcina. I can see that happening definitely.

As another possibility would there be any interest in Tyler Myers or Brayden McNabb out of Buff? I don't know what the asking price would be probably along the same lines as Schenn if not moreso for Myers, or McNabb who I believe could be had for less is a 20 y/o 6'4" D-man with a bit of an edge to his game but really just a stay at home guy who has been logging ~20 minutes a night with Buf due to injuries on the backend.

Gleason

No need to tear up the team to add a good player.

What do you think it would cost you? One of your third liners?

It doesn't matter what I think it would cost us because it shouldn't happen.
