Matthew Lombardi

what would it take to move him out of toronto? would this get it done?

Tor: lombardi, 3rd rnd pick

Any team: 7th rnd pick

I'd let you keep your third and you can have ours. I loved lombo in Phoenix

He would be a very good fit with the coyotes style.

I doubt we would need to give up assets to dump him at this point. I think there would be teams out there willing to take a chance on him.

Lombardi hasn't been near as bad as what people are making him out to be.

He came back after a year of hockey and got injured during this year, so he hasn't had the best of luck.

What are you thinking?! Absolutely brutal, brutal trade. The richest NHL team in the world pays a 3rd to rid themselves of a 3m contract with 1 more year on it.....RIGHT.

I hated seeing him leave CGY. He could be dangerous if he just was able to stay healthy.

Amazing hoq quickly some Leafers have thrown this guy under the bus after he comes back EARLY from a head injury and they thought he may never play again. He comes back, gets injured a again, hasn't even played half a season is NHL hockey but people can't wait to deal hiim.

hes actually looked pretty good so far ... not being as offensive as i would like, but hes making some plays and utilizing his speed ...

a team could pay a 3rd or 4th for him ... no need to dump him

dont get me wrong i like the guy but the leafs have a lot of depth and hes taking up a roster spot that could be used for a better player plus his contract could prevent us from signing a big name free agent this season. The fact that nashville gave up a player of franson's caliber shows you what a hindrence he is.

He hasnt been bad, just not better than our other 3rd liners. He'd still make a good fore-checker as his wheels are still with him.

Kadri repeatedly setting him up gloriously is the only real frustrating thing about him.

I'd love to find a way to get rid of him, there's just no room for him.

Lol, Lombardi may not fetch as much in trade as he used to due to his past injuries, but he is far from negative value. That's even ignoring the stupidity of having the league's richest team use draft picks to dump one year of salary.

An injury-prone, uninsured, overpaid 3rd liner? Yea, he has negative value. Only way the Leafs trade Lombardi is if they take some salary back in return. That being said, I highly doubt Burke considers trading him. I think he's hoping that after this year of recovery he comes back for 2012-2013 healthy and motivated. Plus like you said, Leafs are too rich to worry about some dead salary.
