Nick De Santis was interviewed on RDS after they selected Wenger, and was asked what the plan was now that it is apparent we need a striker, and he said they were in talks with several agents. De Santis was asked if Etienne Barbara was one of the players and Nick said yes, they made him an offer, and are waiting to hear back from his agent.
Yeah I heard they made an offer to barbara but IMO they shouldn't rely on him being a starter. They should bring a quality DP for that position, I'd be happy with Ching, DP, Barbara, Braun, Montano up front.
Btw, any reason to think Wenger will play defense as opposed to midfield or forward? I think he's only played defense with the U-23 US national team no?

I think in the NCAA he played both forward and defender
I think that the reason they passed on mattocks is good news on the negotiating front as it might mean that we are close on a solid DP striker (drogba, del piero, luca toni, other ?) and don't see mattocks starting over that DP player.
I could be wrong but I see it as good news !
Calum Mallace just taken by the Impact, first pick of the second round. Played at Marquette here in Milwaukee, but I never saw him play as I live closer to UWM than to Marquette. I guess he just got his American citizenship, Scottish by birth. Just a high work-rate midfielder from what I can tell.
I'm more happy then we if we had taken Mattocks after all. Wenger versatility was just too good to be ignored. There's really not a lot of players who can play every position on the field adequately, and Wenger is one of them.
It also means we will need a Striker though, and the search for a DP hasn't ended.

Jesse Marsch said to RDS today they're still looking to add one or two players.
I wanted Mattocks but after a few readings, maybe Wenger is the right pick after all, especially if he's about the same level and will stay in North America longer.
It's kinda funny both picks were players the ****ecaps wanted

The video is giving me an error from the MU website. Probably a territorial US thing.
He seems like a guy that stood out because of his combine. Good competitor.
So what does our starting lineup looks like so far if we play a 4-4-2 formation?
As of now, I could see
Ching-Braun
Mapp-Warner-Arnaud-Bernier
Valentin-Wenger-Burling-Rivas
Ricketts
I could see a few different guys sub'd in over players like Braun/Warner...also not to familiar with Bernier, so not sure of his position.
That said, the attacking side is probably the worst in MLS right now, and the D is average. Defiantly gonna need to make some moves in order to have a chance to compete for the playoffs.

That team should be able to grind out some wins, but will be brutal to watch. They really need an attacking DP, a creative AM/FW would make them respectable.
