I thought it was pretty interesting to see the Impact made an attempt to get the 3rd overall pick. I wonder who they liked so much that they made the call to inquire about it. Interesting stuff.
I would bet Silva, he had a great combine! I also liked Hoffman and was shocked he dropped to 13.

In our system (Academy U21), who are our prospect that have MLS potential caliber ?

Maxime Crépeau ?
Alessandro Riggi ?
Ismail Benomar ?
Anthony Jackson-Hamel ?
Marco Lapenna ?
Karl Ouimette ?
Shadrack Mmunga ?

I don't know much about our prospect ... What is our Top 5 now ? and potential ?

Impact raise their offer from 5 million/1 year to 2 years to get Del Piero signed. We're still interested in Toni too. (In Italian)

http://www.tuttomercatoweb.com/?action=read&id=324517

edit: Oh ****! Saputo just had this to say about Del Piero..

Following a number of rumours surrounding Italian soccer player Alessandro Del Piero and his possible move to Major League Soccer, Montreal Impact president Joey Saputo restated certain facts.

“We have met with Del Piero’s group on two separate occasions (April 2011 in Montreal and June 2011 in Turin) to evaluate the potential for Alessandro to finish his career in North America and in Montreal. We were advised by his group in August 2011 that Alessandro would rather focus on New York or Los Angeles. There has been no discussion since then. There is no truth to the rumour that we want the player at all cost. Although we feel that Alessandro would have been a good addition to our club and the city, we respect his decision to look elsewhere in MLS. With the knowledge of soccer in the city, Montreal deserves a Designated Player but the conditions must be right.”

So I'm going to go on a limb and say we aren't signing any "stars" from overseas. I can see others do the same "I'd rather play in NY or LA etc." dialogue.

Honestly I could careless about a big name coming here. I just want a high caliber DP striker. He doesn't have to be a washed up 35+ yrs oldie who wants to come here for monly only.

Same here, I'd rather have a younger player who could stay here for a long time, and who wants to win instead of a big name who's just looking to have some fun before he retires.

I'm a Fiorentina fan, I loathe Juventus, but I'd take Del Piero on the Impact in an instant. More so than Toni, who is finished.

Really they should be looking to South America for DPs, especially as this team needs creativity which is the least likely asset to be produced by North Americans.

I know having the great French, or even Italian or Portuguese savior would be great for the city, but most of the real greats are only going to be interested in NY or LA. There's probably plenty of South Americans outside of the elites who would be willing to follow the money to North America, including some second rate ones in their prime. Obviously the weather would be an adjustment but Montreal isn't really that far removed from Buenos Aires and Santiago culturally.

Probably the same goes for Northern and Eastern Europeans. I was talking to an Estonian friend and apparently Red Bull's Lindpere is actually a pretty big name in Estonia, and if anything he has outplayed Henry and Marquez for less money in New York.

No one can come to terms with Tevez. Bring him over at any cost and watch him ravage the MLS.

There's no way in hell we can compete financially with AC Milan, Machester city or even Paris st-Germain. I agree though, we would automatically have the best striker in the league.

Apparently now we offered Ballack a 2 year deal, man I can't wait for something to actually happen, I know that IMFC is being discussed about worldwide, which is good, but the rumors are driving me crazy!

''even'' PSG? As far as I know they are about 30 times richer than AC Milan.

Of course, players like Tevez would never come here, but how crazy/funny would that be? Imagine that guy in the MLS. He'd score 40.

He says he only wants Milan. I know a ton of money will change his mind, but we can't afford the amounts that China will eventually pay to lure him.

First win vs Estudiantes Tecos. Braun with the only goal. I know it's early but it's good to see that they didn't allow a goal yet.

With the goalies they have and the experienced d-men, I have a feeling that they gonna tie or win more games that they loose next season. A striker would be welcomed, though.

Can they convince Ronaldhino out of retirement...

The guy was awesome still when he played in Montreal a couple of years ago in an exhibition game.

Is it in his home country ? Sorry for my lack of knowledge. The fact that he was not playing in a European league, was telling me he was retired.
