Voting Doug Lidster. One of our all-time scoring defensemen, holds Canucks record for points by a d-man in a single season (63).

Add Alexander Edler.

What the? How did I miss two votes? Im on everyday. Selective blindness/tired of talking about the bruins, I guess. At least it was the two I was planning on voting for (but I would have said ronning first). Lidster. I'm surprised Edler isn't on there yet.

Voted for Lever

Add: Rick Lanz (would've ranked Lidster next, but he's already on the list).

Send a message via ICQ to LiveeviL
Courtnall for the third time.

Sure, if Bieksa is on the list: add Edler

i ended up going with garth. i can see the argument for lidster, but i refuse to vote for anyone who won a cup in '94; certainly not messier, noonan, or tikkanen, not even a longtime canuck like lidster-- particularly one who scored two goals against us in the finals. but '94 aside, lidster had one monster offensive year (where he had far and away the worst +/- on the team) and was passable offensively for the rest of his tenure here. i never saw him as a particularly noteworthy guy here, more of an average player on a bad team. butcher brought more, as a tough defensive presence and as a guy who protected his teammates.

another tough d-man i'd like to see soon is diduck. it'll be interesting how people value guys with relatively short but significant tenures on our blueline like diduck, bieksa, edler, reinhardt, and babych. all such different players...

Reinhardt is the toughest one for me (in terms of putting on or taking off). I'd still rank him among the best D ever to suit up for the Canucks - but his short career here does hurt him.

If Babych was listed I probably would have voted for him. It's hard for me to rank anyone before 1994 as that's when I started falling the team as a young kid. I was welcomed to the team by watching some pretty lean years from 1995 until 1999. Not too many players from that stretch will make this list - basically a revolving door of players under Keenan.
