Lol the guy has managed to put a GAA of under 2.50 and a save % over .910 on one of the worst teams in the league, he hasn't been as good as last year but he's still hands down been our best player this year.. I love Cole and he's been very good but Carey deserves to be there over him.
Min 20 games started, best goalies in east are
Jose Theodore: 29 gp 14-8-4 0.918 save %, 2.43 gaa
Thomas Vokoun: 30 gp 17-10-0 0.915 save %, 2.57 gaa
Carey Price: 37 gp, 15-15-7, 0.913 save %, 2.46 gaa
Marc Andre Fleury: 35 gp, 19-12-2, 0.912 save %, 2.29 gaa
Theo is injured, and between Vokoun, Price and Fleury, Price plays on the worse team of the 3 by far, and so he should go.
Would rather our workhorse get some rest during the break, frankly. Cole is on pace for 30+ goals, certainly AS worthy, imo. Nobody deserves to go though. There should be no guaranteed spots for teams.
Price hasn't been elite this year, if you compare his play to last year.
Disagree. The team hasn't been good at all and his elite play is going unnoticed by the casual fan as a result.
Who do we have playing defense again? Oh that's right, a combined total of less games played than most teams top 2 alone...how anyone can say Price has been anything but elite this year blows my mind. Put Thomas or Rask on Columbus and they wouldn't be considered elite either, they still are.

Pretty sure playing a period of fake hockey won't have any negative affect on price.
Price has played well for most of the season and he's the best choice here. It's no surprise he got the nod. Yes, it's been up and down but he was untouchable for a long stretch and there have been times where his team has completely quit on him in the last few weeks. He deserves to be there.

Thing is he isn't even a top 30 player in the league. I love Cole but he didn't deserve the nod. He's been playing amazing and deserves our praise but plenty of all stars ahead of him got the nod, if there was space I wouldn't mind but imo it was the right choice.
What I don't get is how Elliot gets the call but nobody else on STL... a guy who had a solid 20 game stretch, don't get me wrong kudos to Elliot he's been amazing this year, not saying he shouldn't have gone, but heck they have Backes who didn't even get in... pretty lame imo.
There are 60 1st-line wingers in the NHL. Cole is 18th with 17 goals.
Stop skewing the stats by just using goals, you're being a homer.
Arrange by points and see where Cole is. 67th among forwards when they can only pick 32 total.
I don't see how that concept is hard to understand. If all 30 of his points were goals pretty much and he was 67th being the scoring leader I'd understand. Being 18th in scoring and 67th in points for forwards doesn't get you an all star nod, or at least it shouldn't.
Not only is this undeserved, but it's bad for the whole team.
1. He should take the time to rest. He's already overworked as it is.
2. More leverage for his agent next summer. I do NOT want to be paying this guy 7 million $$$ for the next five to ten years.
1. I don't mind, just better for the tanking...
2. I want him on this team for the next 5 to 10 years, I don't care about the salary... he's an all-star and a franchise goalie = you keep him at all cost.
You know the ASG is a joke when a player that's not even in the top 20 at his position is playing in it. The National Hokey League strikes again.
Your post could be taken more seriously if you posted 20 Goaltenders better than Price in the league. At least sell us some stats that prove your point. Even if stats don't prove it all.

This year at least, he's an all-star by default. Nothing to be proud of but it'll stay on his resume nonetheless. Not good for salary negotiations.
And regarding his workload, ratigue can ealy lead to injury. Do we really want to turn him into the next DiPietro (or Markov)?

I don't know about being an allstar by default, a handful of teams don't have actual allstars, just players in the rookie game so they could have take Diaz for the rookie game and had no actual Hab allstars.

They also could have just taken Cole.
Rookies are fine.
Cole I would have been OK with a little bit, he's healthy this year & Ottawa is only 30 mins away, but Price should be relaxing on a couch for 3 days. This whole game is stupid anyway, there should be like 10 Sens players, it's all for the hosting City anyway.
