I think the All-Star weekend is a lot of fun. I'm sure most NHLers would agree. Heaven forbid we watch a game that showcases the skill and personalities of the world's best players.

If you like it that's cool, though to see skill there kinda has to be a guy on the other side that actually cares about stopping the guy with skill. This is basically a beer league game that happens to have some of the best players in the world playing.

To be honest I try to catch the skills competition, but they're starting to ruin that as well. I don't think I've watched the game itself in 3-4 years at least.

I think the team picking thing they did last year really helped the game.

Now, all they need to do is tie it into the regular season and see sparks fly. Something simple as Team A vs Team B. If your team wins, your NHL-team gets a point.

James Neal on if he was upset about not making all star team. "Of course."

JoshYohe_Trib Josh Yohe
Bylsma said he was surprised Neal didn't make all star team.

Anything that resembles something baseball does I'm automatically against it.

I know they had to send someone from the Wild there, but Nick Johnson??? We waived an all-star

Honestly, I would rather both Letang and Malkin declined and used the break to rest.

They'd get suspended.

Letang should say he's feeling a little nauseated.

I'd prefer none of those guys go.

How much work can it be really? They'll play a game where players don't really try to hard, there is no hitting. And they will take part in other little fun games that don't take more than 5 minutes. It's not as much rest as the other players will get, but it's still pretty good.

He's in the rookie game (replacing RNH), not the big game.

Can't wait to see Tanger struggle to hit an empty net with his slapshot .

Yeah I know, but it's still kind of weird to see him there with the best players in the league, when he couldn't even crack our line-up at the start of the season.

I know this is ridiculous but I swear that after the All Star game where Letang had to do that stupid "defenseman blast slapshots into the top corners" drill, Letang couldn't keep a slapshot below the crossbar. It really seemed like after the All Star game his shot from the point suffered. I'm sure it had little to do with that, just sayin.

Don't laugh. There's at least one person on these boards that will make a big deal about it as ridiculous as it sounds.

I don't see how Lidstrom and Selanne are getting away with it. They declined to go, why can't others like Letang?

when Letang's racked up 20 years of service then he can decline.

Lidstrom told the NHL before the season, he would rather not participate in the ASG.

Lets say Ovie gets suspended and can't attend the ASG. Does this mean Neal or Fartsmell will get the nod, or will someone else from the Caps be picked so 'every team has a representative'?

Suspensions don't effect the all star game.
