If Chipchura is our 3rd line checking center of the future, where does Lapierre fit into the equation?
Not every prospect hits, its probably 50% so one of the two will probably bust, if they both make it then we trade one for something else we need, Defence maybe??
So far I have to say Chippy's offensive production has impressed me. 11 pts in 9 games and one of leaders in WHL scoring. Huge improvement on his pretty slim totals from last year. Hopefully he keeps it up and makes me eat some tasty crow.
BTW, Andrej Meszaros: 3 goals, 5 assists in 8 games for the Vancouver Giants. Went over on the Sens board and apparently he's quickly adjusted to the robust WHL style of play. The Sens stole him at 23rd overall IMO. Him being still available when we picked was the main reason why I hated the Chipchura pick so much at the time. Sure would have been nice to add a young d-man of his talent and quality to the stable, but Chipchura seems to be developping well.
The play by play anouncer called Chipchura "a man amongst boys" during the 2nd period of the game tonight (oct. 16th). Praised him for his leadership and take charge attitude.

Chipchura had the only goal (on the power play) for his team last night in a 3-1 loss against the Red Deer Rebels. Kyle was "Even" and had 2 PIM. He was named the game's 3rd star. Dion Phaneuf was the first star... he scored 2 powerplay goals and had 1 assist, along with 5 PIM.

So far, Chipchura's season...
12 GP / 6 G / 8 A / 14 PTS / +3 / 14 PIM
Kyle is doing great! I hope he keeps it up and gets a spot on the WJC u-20 team!
About Phaneuf, he's a stud!! He was my first pick for Montreal two years ago (before Kastsitsyn). He already has 10 goals as a dman and he has a big physical presence on the ice. Crazy.
I don't know if anyone has noticed..but Andrew Ladd, the guy he was competing for the #1 ranked N.A. player all season last year and taken 4th overall, has 9 pts in 13 games only. In addition, I believe he is playing with Gletzaf. With the WHL being strong due to junior players coming back etc due to the lockout, Kyle has done very well so far.
Marcel Hossa also had multiple reports saying his work ethic was an issue and attitude too, wich IS the OPPOSITE for Kyle. Hossa skills are superior too Chipchura, now at least and at the same age too.
It must be tough for Kyle to put up good offensive numbers when playing on a team that scored like 1 goal per game for the last 4-5 games. Somehow he manages to stay over the PPG plateau. That's more than I expected from him!

If i was Chipchura i would ask to be traded and ask for a raise.
Not bad considering his team scored a total of 32 goals this year, which means Chipchura contributed directly to half his team's production.
damn! That's a very huge production. I liked his skills a lot at the rookie camp. Then I've read in LaPresse that Timmins drafted for Chipchura because he's a very skilled guy with a lot of nice thins in his game. Overall, they took him because they thought he has great skills above everything.
Only one of the team's wigners has ever scored more than 21 points in a season. Caine Pearpoint had 45 last year and he's leading all wingers with 8 so far this season -his 5th. After a quick scan of the wingers I'd estimate that they haven't averaged much more than 10 or 15 points per/season in the dub.
If Chipchura continues to contribute offensively at his current pace and he's as good defensively as people say, it can only bode well for his future with the Habs.
