Vinny Prospal to Ottawa

I think he would be the perfect fit. I don't know his contract status so i could be off on his value, but hes 37, so it probably doesn't matter that much anyways. He's on pace for 60 points on the worst team in the league and I think he would complement our second line or even play first line. We need a LW and Murray was just quoted as wanting to add to the team.

I don't know what Columbus needs but I would assume you guys wouldn't mind picks and/or prospects. I thought you were looking for defense a while ago but that might have been someone else haha. I know Vinny talked to the media a few months ago and didn't sound happy if I remember correctly (who would be in last place) but I honestly love his style and experience. I'm also making the assumption that Howson is planning on moving him due to age.

Ottawa and Columbus are frequent trading partners so I think this could really be a discussion. I think similar players like Cullen went for 2nd round picks at the deadline and I would offer our 2013 2nd. Or I would give up a player like Wiercioch and maybe even add Butler if that wasn't enough

It also works because Vinny is only traded to teams he's already played for.

Interesting. However I doubt Prospal would waive his NMC; his experience with the senators wasn't very pleasant IMO.

And therein lies the rub .

I'd offer the typical Senators 2nd round pick deadline deal but not a cent more. How do you guys feel about that CBJ?

Wouldn't be a 2nd from this year though, that went to Phoenix.

I think some other teams would offer a 2nd in 2012.

Chicago would give you a 2nd and Bryan Bickell. Bickell last year 17G 20A = 37 points on a 560,000 contract the next 2 years. He is a 3rd liner for CBJ possibly a 4th liner has some size just hasn't figured out how to use it. Lightning shot over 90mph

He hasnt gotten hurt yet? He's a smart guy though really knows how to put up points and I love his passion and demonstrative nature. Great teammate and locker room guy. Wish he was still with the Rangers I would have liked to watch him with this team now that it actually wins.

Dubs, 2 1sts , MZA, Mcilrath, Christian Thomas, for Prospal Pahls and Nash (See what I did there)

No but seriously for Prospal I'd think a late 2nd/ early 3rd is what he'd go for.

I was under the impression that the Senators were rebuilding (but still having some success this season). Do you really want to give up picks for rentals?

Giving up 3rd rounders or lower doesnt kill the rebuild, just gotta be smart about it.As long as we dont trade our blue chippers it wont hurt in the end.

He's like the all time enigma in the NHL. You like him, you dont, then you like him again, then you dont....

And it's the same teams..

Throw in Condra or Greening and maybe we can land Brassard too.

Kidding, right?

Why is everyone in a hurry to offload Butler? The kid is a natural sniper. Just needs a regular shift as a top 6 and he'll start putting up numbers.

Ottawa isn't going to do any damage these playoffs so no sense giving up assets for a rental. If it was for a younger player with years left on his contract maybe.

That said, with the addition of Turris and the great play of Zack Smith as of late, Brassard may be unnecessary.

People keep saying that we don't have a 2nd round pick after the Turris trade but I thought we had a conditional 2nd rounder that we got from Nashville in the Fisher trade. Unless that is the pick that we traded to get Turris.

Nevermind just looked it up and it was a conditional 3rd that we got from Nashville.
