about par for the course, imo. since the solid period after the start of the season, when they seemed to gel in terms of system play and bring a good effort all night, every night, the formula for most games has been about 1/3 hard work, 1/3 finesse, 1/3 goaltending. it's been a familiar story this period - very casual, soft and disorganized. we've been fortunate, as we have been in many other games, that goaltending has saved us.
while this type of hit and miss hockey might work get you by in the regular season, when goaltending or skill can pick you up in a given period or on a given night, this panther team right now is not looking like a team capable of playing playoff hockey; they will be destroyed if this pattern doesn't change.
Clemm is definitely keeping us in it so far tonight.
And ANOTHER breakaway? No defense from this team tonight.
Remember those games where we would dominate for a whole period, hit a few posts and get nothing to show for it, only to have the other team come down and score a few lucky ones and win it? Well let's be that other team tonight!
Hopefully Dineen lights a fire under their ***** in the 1st intermission like Monday night's game and we come out much better in the 2nd.
