A lot of what was once called a "big hit" getting long suspensions now. Saddening.

Both Cole and Torres hits. Once upon a time, both were not illegal.

sorry, not Cole, was looking at the wrong clip. But Torres, its "charging" yet he didnt take a stride in about 20 feet.

Just had a look at both of them. Don't have a problem with the Torres one, he got him high when there was no need to, he could have just hit him properly.

The Cole one is 50/50 but again, he could have kept his shoulder tucked in and still drilled him.

Neither one was terrible but they are both unnecessary.

the NHL has decided (correctly IMO) that you can't target the head. Hopefully some of these suspensions will eventually makes the players hit each other properly instead of always going high

Guesses on the almost-certain Carcillo suspension? I'm going to say 7 games, but as usual, I have no idea.

I'd say 5-10, probably closer to 10. They can afford to 'make an example' of him as he seems to be injured anyway

This is a list of most TOI played in a single game. Courtesy of the Devils board. See if you can spot the anomaly!

I'm on my phone and it's 12:20 in the morning, so I'm not opening this link, I'm too tired and lazy.

This has Kovalchuk written all over it

Correct. It's a list of the top 100 players in terms of minutes in a single game, all are D except Kovy, who appears 4 times

Why is Filip Kuba on this list? And at 33 minutes no less? Jay Harrison, too.

The best part is that Girardi appears less and less the further you go.

He appears TEN TIMES in the top 100.

Guy is a ****ing stud.

It's probably going to be somewhere between 5-10. I HATE hits that don't involve players not going for the puck. Hopefully that ugly SOB gets 10.

The first forward, other than Kovalchuk, doesn't appear until #157 which is actually our own Ryan Callahan with 28:11 against the Lightning on 12/8. Kovalchuk appears 5 times before that, twice in the top 20.

When we clinch the playoffs, we should give Girardi a week off to relax and heal up. He deserves it. He's such a warrior and even still, underrated.

Both RNH and Tom Gilbert left last game with injuries...

RNH with his arm in a sling...

Could be serious....

Not good news for him nor his fans...

If RNH is out for an extended period, that leaves the Calder vote wide open. Henrique? Smith? Hodgson?
