We Are A Playoff Team- Need To Start Playing Auld

The teams which have success in the playoffs traditionally start around 65 starts for their starter, Anderson has played around thirty nine-forty starts and that number is sure to start climbing as the season continues. Anyone else in favour of starting Auld for some games in increased intervals such as 1 in 5.

Right now I feel this is our only great concern going foward, exhausting the goaltender

I think Montreal or Winnipeg would be a good time to give Auld a start.

Yeah, those could work.

Hard to sit Anderson during a streak where he's playing so well.

If it was not the shutout tonight I would give him the Saturday game and Tuesday against the Leafs, leaving Anderson with Winnipeg. Anderson could have the Sharks and Ducks, Auld takes the Kings with Anderson finishing the Coyotes off before the All-star week off.

Looking into early February there is a consecutive Friday and Saturday home games so they could give Auld the game on the 3rd. Really need to slow things down with Anderson

It was a ways back when Ottawa was in Vancouver, Auld held us in it for the overtime point. He certainly is no rock like Anderson has been but I think he's definitely due for a start and hopefully he can prove himself.

Give Auld some starts, if he falters, see what the price on Garon is at the deadline.

I've always liked Auld.

He's a really good guy in the room by all accounts, and he's content with his role as a back-up goalie.

He came up big for Ottawa a few years ago when Gerber sucked.

I like big back-ups because I feel that, by and large, they play a more conservative style and are thus more consistent.

game vs montreal, or later during our trip. But to me, not until we have a confortable lead in points in the conference.

every point on the road is big Unless we're sure Auld can win the game, start Andy, keep him hot.

I think we should ride him. He is playing lights out right now and we're looking to win a playoff spot. Maybe he sits in back to backs, but at the rate we're going he'll have a few games he can rest once we've secured a playoff berth.

Anderson is a battler, and he seems to play at his best when something is on the line. There is no reason to rest him. It's not like we're a shoo-in for the playoffs, we're a team that's kicking a!! and taking names and Andy is an important part of that.

You only rest your starter when making the playoffs is a given. For now, we need to continue to be world beaters and that means that guys play tired and get to rejoice in hard fought wins. That includes Andy.

Auld will get his starts when it makes sense, and at this point we're talking back to back games, or weak opponents only.

Auld has been dreadful for the most part. I'd rather call up Lehner to get a start here and there like Buffalo did with Enroth.

I cringe whenever Auld is announced as the starter of a game. We need an NHL-caliber backup.

Yep. Too many starts for Auld and we wont be a playoff team anymore.

Maybe the problem is that Auld doesn't work at his best in the type of system we use, too much pressure, too much things happening all over the ice... I don't know but he was very good for Montreal last year, actually better than he was 3 years ago for the Sens

Normally, Auld should be one of the best back-ups in the league. Auld just turned 31 y/o, which is around the prime years for goalies... Not sure why he's done. Can we fix him? lol, I have a hard time figuring the Sens to fix a goalie

God, this.

I get dizzy when I see #35 out there in nets, and not in a good way. Auld has ONE win on the year, he has a .875sp, and a GAA close to 4. He looks incredibly un-confident, and just out of place.

I want to see as little of Auld as humanly possible... if that means calling up Lehner for spot-start duty, then so be it. He can't POSSIBLY be any worse than Bauld has been.

Let Auld have mop-up duties if we get blown out, but plan ahead and make a schedule of days you want to give Andy a rest, and give Lehner the 1-game call-ups.

Yeah, agreed.
What would you guys think about flipping a 7th and Mike McKenna for Leighton and a pick?

I've been thinking for awhile now that we should acquire Leighton from Philly/Adirondack. He'd be another cheap insurance policy and has past experience backing up Andy while in Chicago awhile back. Ideally; We spend very little at the deadline this year.

Greening-Spezza-Michalek
Prospal-Turris-Alfie
Foligno-Smith-Condra
Daugavins-Konopka-Neil
Butler, Winchester, Da Costa, Hoffman, Petersson(Regin IR)

Kuba-Karlsson
Cowen-Gonchar
Phillips-Lee
Carkner, Boroweicki

Anderson
Leighton
Lehner
Auld

would be an ideal roster for us heading into the playoffs.

I'm up for taking a flyer on Leighton... the guy is getting paid $1.5 mil to play in the AHL. You'd have to think the Flyers wouldn't ask for too much to be able to get out from that.

He can't be any worse than Auld has been.

http://www.sportsclubstats.com/NHL.html Has us at an 82% chance of making the play offs. I am not sure how much stock to put in that site, but it shows that things are not as tight as they were even a week ago. I would be tempted to start Auld against Montreal giving Andy a full four days off. Auld used to play for the Habs, so starting him against his old team might focus him a bit.

I'd only sit Anderson for the one game against the Jets or the Leafs next week. The ASB is coming soon, let's ride him until then.

That site had us at a 20% or less a few weeks ago. Beating Philly, overtime loss to Philly and that win last night sure made a difference.
