Hedman

What do you guys think it would talk to get hedman on the isles.

Since Tampa is most likely going to look at upgrading in net. Do you think Naby plus a second could get it done ?

That is like Tampa offering a 2nd and Garon for Hamonic. Would you do that.

To get Hedman we would probably need to start with Nino/Okposo/Stome and add De Haan

I dont think its anything like that.
However maybe its not enough. Its sill more then just a second IMO.
They might look at Naby and use him to upgrade there poor D.

That offer is probably not even close to what Tampa would want even if they were looking to trade him, which I don't think they are. Hedman is a former 2nd overall pick, is only 21 years old, and then there's that old addage about defenseman taking longer to develop. Besides, while Tampa needs help in net, trading a 21 year old highly touted defenseman for a 37 year old soon to be UFA netminder doesn't really solve their problem. Even him Nabby re-signs with Tampa, they'll be in the same boat a year or two from now. In that time, Hedman can finally begin to bloom as a player.

Hedman's contract was extended by Tampa....He is going no where....

Never Happen on the trade front...

a what 37 or 38 year old goalie Nabby for a 20 year old? That is a good one

We will be lucky to get a 3rd round pick for nabby or a low grade prospect....think Rollie's deal last year.....

Nabby is no different then Rollie was last year

That's one of the worst proposals I've seen in a long time......

We already traded them a goalie approaching the age of 40 last year (Roloson) and all we got back was a garbage AHL defenseman in Wishart......... So now all we have to do is throw in a 2nd rounder with another goalie of the same age as Roloson and its going to land us the 2nd overall pick from 2009??????? Come back to earth!!

Isles and Tampa make really bad trade partners when I think about it more. Both teams have awful D units and need to upgrade if they ever want to do any damage.

I'd like to trade my wife in for someone younger and hotter. Too bad the institution of marriage doesn't have a CBA or a GM. Well, it does have "til death do us part", but that's too oppressive and too far away.

Any deal for Hedman starts with our 2012 1st, Travis Hamonic and probably one of Strome or Nino.

In other words, it's not going to happen.

Yea that's a reaaally good package, but I think if we added Mottau, Eaton, Trevor Gillies and Kabanov we could probably pry Stamkos as well.

TB's gm has already said he wants to upgrade his top 4 defense and goaltending.Yzerman told the press how difficult it is,acquirring a quality, top 4 d-man,so it's very unlikely Hedman is available.

Let's say Snow wants to make a pitch anyway.

It should be at the draft, with the isles offering a package

1.One of Poulin,Nilson or Koskenin.
2.Isles 1st rounder
3.De Haan

A lot to give up?Yup.But TB thinks Hedman will develop into a franchise d-man.
I'm not even sure Snow would be willing to part with the Isles 2012 1st.Not if his scouts believe in the potential of Murray/Dumba/Trouba.

I made a proposal that included De Haan instead of Hamonic, but you're right.TB would perfer Hamonic, who's already found success at the nhl level.
I think TB would want a quality young goalie or nhl ready goalie prospect, with high upside.

That statement is probably worse than the original proposal.

It STARTS there? We are talking about Victor Hedman, correct? Travis Hamonic is a better defenseman than Hedman, yet we are adding a potential top-5 pick and our top prospect? I get it, the original proposal was way off, but you are completely overrating Hedman here.

Whats happening with Ty Wishart these days? Please someone tell me he is "developing" well in Bridgeport? He has the size and build and I hope he can make an impact.

They just gave Hedman a nice extension which leads me to believe they are more than happy with the young mans play. Thus, I think we would have to start at a high end 'spec and some picks.

All-in-all Hedman IMO has not lived nearly enough up to the hype and would not be worth it.

Think about what St. Louis got for Erik Johnson and you have an idea of what it would take (top six forward, top four defenseman). TB is in desperate need for a goaltender for the future, so it would probably be one of Poulin/Nilsson/Koskinen and one of Hamonic/deHaan, plus maybe a mid level prospect or pick.

And as others have said, TB just re-upped him, so they're unlikely to give up on him this soon.

Bad trade partners, really. Both teams need young solid d-men.

I've seen Wishart play for the Port and I'm starting to wonder if hes even an AHL Dman... he really is just that awful.

If de Haan and or Hamonic is a piece of this deal then it's already a failure.

Not a chance. I think it would look more like this.

Nabby
2nd
Ullstrom

Hedman
Stamkos

I know you are trying to be fair but we dont want to see Garth Snow overpay for Hedman.

Hedman has played terribly this season so far. He has certainly not taken that 'next step' like everyone has thought. However, his value to tampa is certainly higher than it is to us all things considered. I wouldn't give up more than DeHann and a 2nd, which still wouldn't get it done.
