Come on Fantom. I've seen you post and you're much better than this.

This isn't even in the right orbit for what it would take to get Hedman.

TB may be interested in Nabokov if they're anywhere near the playoffs come end of February. So too will at least 3 other teams.

Only a pick or maybe a prospect is coming back in the process.

Hedman can be forgotten. The Islanders are getting NO under-25 Dman currently playing a top 4 role and who was a top 10 pick the past 6 years without a massive overpayment. The Islanders are in no position to be making such an overpayment.

In my opinion... Depending on how big of an overpayment, because you are right that we will have to overpay for any big-time player/prospect, I think now might be the time to bite the bullet and do so. We all know Wang isn't going to drop any money for any player that's going to need the big bucks, so why not overpay a bit for another young, big DMan?

We're all well aware that we're not getting a new arena unless the team starts to get popular among the community again. Getting players that can contribute to us winning more games, in my opinion, could be well worth the overpayment in the long run. For me this is especially OK for a guy like Hedman who has 5 years left on his contract after this year. Personally, I would be willing to give up something like Nabby, a prospect or 2 (Koskinen, Cizikas/Rhett), and a 1st for Hedman and a 5th. Maybe work with that a little, giving a little less due to Hedman being concussed with no start for treatment in sight, but I would still be willing to give up something along those lines for him. If you disagree wholeheartedly I'm willing to be shut up lol

Tampa has even less of a shot at the playoffs than we do, I doubt they would want Nabokov. Only teams I could see wanting him assuming no one gets hurt would be the Detroit, Chicago,Toronto and maybe Dallas. I don't see more than a 3rd rounder or Ty Wishart level prospect coming back.
