Strachan waived = Kulikov back?

According to the waivers thread on the trade rumors forum... we waived Strachan today, likely to send him down to San Antonio.

Was this move made to activate Kulikov off IR for tomorrows game? Just speculating, but its probable that this is the case.

Does Strachan actually have to clear waivers? I thought because he had already done so recently he would just go straight back to San Antonio.

Well if somebody picks him up they have to pay him NHL money next year so that may keep him from getting claimed.

I'd love to have Kulikov back. What a boost that'd be for us.

He's played in enough games to justify having to pass through waivers. As someone else mentioned, he is not likely to be claimed since the one way contract he has signed for next season will be a deterrent.

I guess they needed to make room on the roster for Kuli.

What happens when Upshall comes off IR. Which forward gets waived?

Santorelli?? He IS the worst player on this team right now..Well Upshall wasnt any better in the few games he played. Maybe he can prove us wrong. I would love his character in the lineup much more than a useless Santorelli. Upshall can hit, Santorelli cant do anything..

Maximum roster size is 23 players.

Fleischmann, Weiss, Wolski, Santorelli, Campbell, Sturm, Jovanovski, Garrison, Smithson, Samuelsson, Bergenheim, Theodore, Clemmensen, Weaver, Ellerby, Gudbranson, Madden, Barch, Goc, Matthias, Kopecky = 21

Strachan being sent down gives you room to add both Kulikov and Versteeg, who are the likely returnees on Saturday.

Consider that Skille and Bradley are likely lost for the year.

That does mean one player has to go down if Upshall can return.

They'll probably just keep players up now. No point in waiving anyone when you need reserves going into the playoffs.

Nobody has to get waived. Rosters are expanded after the trade deadline. They probably sent Strachan down just to get some playing time, and Kuli will be back soon.
