Clutching at straws

My girlfriend, who's a nurse, tells me that old, senile folks sometimes react backwards to drugs. Sleeping pills keep them up at night while coffee makes them sleepy.

With the same logic, maybe the unluckiest team in the league can make Friday 13th their lucky day.

Gustavsson starts tomorrow in Buffalo. Sounds possible he could play both games in back-to-back. Likely depends on Friday's performance.

3-0 Leafs win.

Now with the first trade of the deadline'ish done, the Sabres can start determining market value for the massive sell-off at the deadline for picks and prospects!

I have seen no evidence in the past few weeks that the Sabres will score more than 2 goals.

Probably will play. The only thing that can stop him appears to be Toronto steakhouses.

I expect a better game out of them tonight. But wouldn't be surprised with the same effort.

4-2 leafs

Vanek, Leino, or Gaustad with a goal

Honestly, do you guys think you have a good shot of turning this around very soon? I'd like to see Buffalo in the playoffs again and was wondering if you guys can get back there again. IIRC, you guys were in a similar spot right now around this time last year as well, and I'd say with probably a worse team.

BTW, how has Ehrhoff been? He usually carries a good part offensively, but is prone to making mistakes on the counter-attack, namely giving it to the other team on a breakout.

Thanks! Good Luck tonight, I'll be watching.

1. Yes if something happens. A trade, coaching change, or firing of Regier. Barring that no

Ehrhoff has been good thus far. I think he leads the team in TOI. And this whole team has been a turnover machine.

I think it's too much to expect a similar miracle run this season, though I do think on paper we're better. The trouble is we have a large number of under performing forwards, and our goaltending hasn't been too strong. Vanek and Pominville alone can't carry us there.

Ehrhoff has been a rock for us in terms of TOI. And in play. We're a way better team with him in the lineup.

Actually, no, I do not think the Sabres will make the playoffs. Just too much bad karma and too many players having the worst years of their careers (Miller, Roy, Stafford) and others they were depending more on and haven't got the production they were hoping for (Ennis, Leino, Ehrhoff).

I hope the Sabres are realistic about the situation they are in and this is a pre-off season mode to build something towards next season.

The way I see it is, I hope the sabres either make the playoffs or continue to TANK. If they aren't going to make the playoffs I'd rather they lose every single game for the rest of the year and get themselves a center that way. Otherwise trade for one and make the playoffs. Im so sick of being middle of the pack in the draft. Teams have to get a top five pick once in a while right?
