I just want to say that i think that Datsyuk is the best player in the NHL because of his defensive skills combined with his hands and offensive skills.
Here's a short video i made about him, go check it out if you have time!
Thanks

Highlights from the Pavel Datsyuk's interview in Sport-Express after the first practice with the national team (his linemates are Kovalchuk and Radulov):

Today you practiced with Kovalchuk and Radulov, does it mean the first line is determined?
Nominations don't matter. It does not depend on the color of our practice uniforms.

Who is missing from this "dream team"?
Larionov, Fetisov, and so on.

Can your line be stopped at all?
When the siren goes at the end of the game, we will certainly stop.

Schipachev looks a little like you, doesn't he? Also a center and also practiced as a fourth forward with your line.
He doesn't just look like me, he is better than me. Younger. Everything is ahead for him.

How many tickets did you take for the First Channel Cup?
Ten for each game. Now I have to sell them to break even.

Pavel is killing the Czech Republic at the moment.

http://www.scoresway.com/?sport=hock...atch&id=119527

1-0 Radulov (Emelin, Datsyuk) point shot and a tip-in from Radulov
2-0 Datsyuk (Kovalchuk, Kulemin) huge sniping wrister on the top corner
3-0 Mozyakin (Ovechkin, Malkin) PP goal from this russian Brett Hull
4-0 Datsyuk (Kovalchuk, Radulov) nice tic-tac-toe passing with old Sovjet way
5-0 Malkin (Mozyakin) just cruised in front of the goal and put it in between Pavelec's legs
6-0 Datsyuk (unassisted) some dekes and backhand shot between the Pavelec's legs like Malkin did. Early christmas present from Czech defenceman, hope that wasn't Kindl...

Pavel 3+1. Normal day in the office.

At the end of the game, he is still there, game is 6-0, 30 seconds remaining, power-play for Czechs. Pavel wins the last faceoff and kills the PP. Just domination.

In both cases it was backup goalie Salak. Kindl was also very noticeable by taking two penalties.

Pavel was also 1+1 against Sweden on Friday. So with 6 points he is the leading scorer of this tournament.

Oh, I was just predicting for sure that it was Pavelec because Salak played against Finland on thursday. Or did they change the guy during the game? Bad stream and no sound...

HIGHLIGHTS:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sK8Wn...layer_embedded

EDIT:

1-0 Radulov (Emelin, Datsyuk)
2-0 Datsyuk (Kovalchuk, Kulemin)
3-0 Mozyakin (Ovechkin, Malkin) PP
4-0 Datsyuk (Kovalchuk, Radulov)
5-0 Malkin (Mozyakin)
6-0 Datsyuk (unassisted)

Added some assists to 2nd (Kovy and Kulemin), 3rd (Malkin) and 5th goals (Mozyakin), those were easy to see from the video.

Yeah. They changed after Datsyuk scored his 2nd goal. Not that it really matters.

Lockout talk thread

Never had a hat trick in the NHL, has he?

Sure hope the owners decide to give an inch after the players have moved a mile.

If not, and this thing goes to the courts, we might have seen the last of Datsyuk.

Thank you to Mike Ilitch for caring more about Columbus Blue Jackets ownership than your own fans.

I think Mike Ilitch or Red Wings management has nothing to do with this lockout. Everybody at Red Wings organization wanted to play. But one vote isn't enough for those other owners. Also Rangers and Pens want a season, but that isn't enough. We can't be anyhow an organization who wanted this, no financial problems, healthiest salary structure and and greatest example for everybody. There should be that Hockeytown Winter Festival and Winter Classic coming. Everybody of us knows that.

28 other owners cast the same vote.

After seeing how those handful of hardliners have fought the PA tooth and nail, i can understand illitch voting lockout just to avoid being blackballed by other teams down the road.

My vitriol is directed more at devellano than illitch.

And the PA says everyone is united, too. There's no evidence that Ilitch is for the lockout other than PR ********.

0+2 today against Finland.

Nice Euro Hockey tour for Datsyuk. 3 games, 4+4=8.

Today Radulov was off his line and he was replaced by 25-year old Severstal winger Vadim Schipachev.

1-0 Schipachev (Kovalchuk, Datsyuk)
2-0 Malkin (Mozyakin, Kulemin) PP
2-1 Mäenpää (Näkyvä, Kuusela) PP
3-1 Kovalchuk (Schipachev, Datsyuk)

I believe the first goal was assisted by Kovalchuk. Datsyuk got the secondary assist. At least this is how I remember it.

Overall at ES, Datsyuk line was the most dominant one in the whole tournament. Although Malkin and his mates were better on the PP. But I believe that Datsyuk was still the best Russian. Scored goals in every way one could wish, made plays, won a lot of FOs, killed penalties, played solid defense as always. Great tournament all-around.

Yes, seconday assist for Datsyuk. Easy to see his saucer-pass for Ilya from the video. That started the counter-attack 2 on 1.

Wow. That first pass... who thinks of that?

Schipachev looks good to me.
