someone posted in here during the last season, I think it was MISSNHL or Esunlin, and they knew someone who worked in the wings office and confirmed that he did have a new girlfriend in the city, most likely due to the divorce thing being true. Most likely when his wife and daughter moved back home they said it was for school, as Datsyuk does keep his private life very private, when in reality it was probably for both school and because they were in the middle of the divorce process, just speculation on my part, but it does make sense for why they are back in Russia and if he does indeed have a new gf

Now @plysenkov says Pavel Datsyuk will also play in KHL All-Star Game. He wasn't on the updated roster released today, though.
Is there news that Datsyuk is coming to Michigan soon?

I would guess Datsyuk and Kovalchuk are getting payed big time for staying for the KHL ASG. But if camp starts on Sunday and the game is also on Sunday?

So? Camp is for Bertuzzi, Franzen and all the other guys who have been eating those extra donuts for the past few months. Datsyuk has been in top form for some time now. He will be fine if he misses a day or two.

I expect he's been in contact with KH and the Wings and they were fine with it. If not I'm sure KH won't be upset since there is really nothing he can do. Pavel deserves to stay for it.

The wings gave him permission to play in the all star game

Quote:
Gary Greenstin told the Free Press that Datsyuk, who has been playing for CSKA Moscow in his native Russia during the lockout, has the OK from the Wings to play in this weekend's KHL All-Star festivities in Chelyabinsk, which isn't far from Datsyuk's hometown of Yekaterinburg.

Once that's over, Datsyuk is coming back to the Wings.

"Pavel loves Red Wings organization. He make his name in Detroit," Greenstin said today. "He belongs to them, and Detroit belong to him.

"He has permission to play in All-Star Game. He had reservation to fly the 11th; now I believe he will fly the 14th."

I see no problem with him not being at camp when it begins, just thought I would point out they are on the same day.

Classy move by the Wings.

Bert may be old, lazy, and slow on the ice - but off the ice hes a machine and very dilligent with his training. Dudes always big and cut. Franzen on the other hand looks like a pasty white stack of marshmellows with his shirt off.

Good move by Detroit. Won't call it classy. Just smart.

1. You don't want to give Pavel any reason to stay there all year.
2. You don't want to give Pavel more reasons to leave Detroit in 15 months.

I agree with the Captain. There was basically only one reason why Detroit would object, and that is fear of injury. At an all start game that risk is minimal for an adult hockey game. So, the gamble is a low percentage chance of Pavel getting injured vs. a high percentage chance of making Detroit seem like a more welcoming and reasonable club. I'd go for the latter.

Agree, plus Datsyuk likely went through the proper channels and actually asked. Something we are not hearing about Kovy from the reports that are out there.

True. Detroit had nothing to win by refusing. The nice thing is that Datsyuk bothered to ask. Could have easily done as Kovalchuk and still be right.

Pavel Datsyuk ‏@Datsyuk13

Going to the Russian KHL All Star Game (this weekend) in Chelyabinsk. Can't wait to be back in Detroit on Monday evening.

Datsyuk is now on twitter, apparently. Account is verified.
