Basically a PPG Selke-caliber defense Centre. If he had better playoff record, he would be a sure fire Hall of Famer by now.

He skates the same line, he starts the deke same way...

...and usually he turns it to forehand and shoots it for the left side...

..or sometimes he shoots straight from the backhand to the right side.

The goalies are just helpless.

I have never been a fan of shootouts, but Pavel is the reason to watch them. He is just phenomenal.

Mine too

There really ought to be NHL marketing campaigns built around what he does on the ice.
He's like Barry Sanders was for the Lions. Except he wins games and has won championship.

I guess to be fair we have to acknowledge those guys were callups from the minors. Not sure which ones though.

I want to see a montage of the little things he does. Little moves to get the breakout going, letting someone push him in the back and using the momentum to get off the boards. Skate to stick, plays off the back of the net, head fakes, shoulder fakes, takeaways, getting tied up so a teammate can scoop up the puck.

Every single step and move he makes is setting the next up. It really is clinical and that is why he is the most exciting and enjoyable player to watch.

In his post-game interview Bertuzzi said Datsyuk is the greatest player he's ever played with. Datsyuk is unbelievably good.

I've been saying this for years now.

Heck, even a highlight reel just dedicated to his takeaways would be a thrill to see.

There was a short clip that was on youtube that i can no longer find, but it was Datsyuk taking the puck off Barrett Jackman's stick, putting it between his legs, and completely twisting him around all in one smooth movement. It's things of that nature that you just simply don't see anybody else in the game pulling off.

I did find this little spin move that i always enjoy watching:

I did find this little spin move that i always enjoy watching:
4 highlight plays in 30 sec.
1. in the corner
2. around the net (that is one of my favourite move of his)
3. levels a guy at the blue line
4. steals the puck in the corner

U-n-b-e-l-i-e-v-a-b-l-e

Thanks for the great clip.

Watching him play never gets old...
One of the things most people not watching the Wings play don't know about Dats is his physicality .. man oh man.

A great hit on a big man Weber. You can see it 2 times at 1:13 and at 1:40.

Here is the no look backhand pass to Bertuzzi last night vs the Hawks.

Jeez I kind of miss Markov.

That fist pump is also the best goal celebration ever.

I like this one because you can actually see how his legs are bowed.
And the faces of the Sens players is gold.

The beginning of this video always cracks me up:

And this is one of my fav interviews of him. Hilarious how he talks about Brett Hull yelling, but not being able to understand him.

Alright, two more...

This next one is in poor quality, but still shows his stickhandling. The amazing thing about that quick move is that he picks the puck up on his forehand. Almost anybody that plays hockey can attest to how crazy that is. When you stickhandle thru somebody on the forehand, you almost always pick up the puck with your backhand. I really can't stress enough of how skilled that was:

And lastly, a couple more highlights from his rookie season. The first one he took the puck from current Pen's coach Bylsma. On the second one he creates a chance for himself and ends up setting up Hull. It's crazy seeing how much room there was behind the net on the 2nd clip:

Some good ones from my YouTube favorites:

I wish DJ Porter or someone like him would make an auto tune Datsyuk mix music video like they have on ESPN.
