I'm still on the Mike Knuble train. Gritty player who goes to the net to score. Adds some nice size up front. Probably wouldn't cost that much.
I am a little miffed at all the Washington mentions. Understand those requesting Semin because in all likelihood he is actually available for the right price. However outside of him and Schultz the Washington Capitals are not sellers and at this point they really will be close enough no matter what that they can't be either.

He's not having a great season and is old. He's not untouchable despite Washington still in the playoff mix.
Filppula, 27, is suddenly scoring and already only five points off his career-high mark of 40, set in 2008-09. So what does Datsyuk, always the joker, think about his young comrade finally excelling in the scoring department?
“I tell him be quiet, I need the glory. Be quiet.”

Just spoke with Pavel Datsyuk who says he wants to be the last pick in the All-Star fantasy draft. "I want the car," he said.
Datsyuk is the funniest man on the team. No doubt.
I grew up around a lot of Korean immigrants. I can tell you that making jokes in English requires a certain mastery and comfort with the language. Stop using it as an excuse to keep the C from him!
I was 14 when he debuted, and I got a Datsyuk jersey before October was over. The roster for 01-02 was so stocked that he didn't get talked about much, but he was the central focus for me that year. Not much has changed since then.

That could be but it also requires a lot of interviews and things that Datysuk is really uncomfortable with. Since rumors have it they had to talk him into even wearing and A, I think it is highly unlikely he puts on the C. Of the three guys that wear A's on this team I actually think Kronwall is probably the most qualified to wear the C for traditional speech and vocal reasons in the locker room. It has been reported that both he and Cleary are really the guys that have filled in the Draper role and are the loud encouraging types. Think Z can handle all the duties and much like Lidstrom he might not talk no stop to the team but when he says something they will all listen. But those two remain pretty far in front of Datysuk as far as players that would be comfortable in that role.
Does anyone have that picture of Pav drinking from a trophy? I think it's either from the super league or international play. It's someone's avatar here, too.
Nevermind, found it:

From a GM, "Detroit is the best team we've played this year. It's not even close. Their puck control is incredible...You have to hope your goalie has a great night to give you a chance."
As soon as Chara opened with "i love the way this guy plays" i knew he was picking Pav. The two of them have had some nice battles the past couple of years.

This season is not over, but is this Datsyuk's best season?
Depends on his second half. It absolutely has the possibility to be, but it depends on how it plays out. He had a 30 odd game span where he was scoring at a 1.32 ppg clip, but has been held scoreless in 3 of his last five. We will see.
As Detroit Fans we have recently had the opportunity to watch Datsyuk, Lidstrom & Yzerman and if you include football and go a few years back we had Barry Sanders to watch. Some cities never get exciting players of that caliber to watch.
A fairly long, and quite good interview with Pavs by a Russian reporter. It is in Russian so I had to use a translator, but it was easy to understand. A few good jokes from Pavs that made me lol. Worth the effort to read.
"I'd rather observe the skills competition from the first row. A better view"
"I was upset with myself during the breakaway contest. I wanted to participate in other contests: "The Best Drinker" or "The Best Singer", but, for some reason, they weren't in the program. So I had two good options: I either score and stay or I don't score and it's over. The second good option came first."
"Were you surprised both captains are from Europe?"
"No. Plus, you can't argue with a man with a slapshot like Chara's."
"How would you define a star?"
"A figure with five angles, like on the old Soviet flag. Let me show you (spreads his arms). Seriously, I hope I'll become a star one day. I still have a chance."
"Can they put you on the wing in the All-Star game?"
"I played on the wing before. I will be only too happy to let somebody else win faceoffs."
"If you could introduce one law to the NHL, what would it be?"
"I'd make Olympic participation mandatory."
"My main goal in the All-Star game is not to get caught in the line of fire, when Chara is shooting the puck."
"My dream is to skate in the Rido (sp?) canal in Ottawa. I almost did."
This has probably been covered a million times, but why does Datsyuk wear his "A" on his right shoulder as opposed to the more tradition left shoulder?
