Just spoke with Pavel Datsyuk who says he wants to be the last pick in the All-Star fantasy draft. "I want the car," he said.
In Soviet Russia Car drive you.

Blame Reebok for that. There wasn't enough room for the logo and the letter on the left side with the way that the new jerseys are cut.

The "traditional" uniforms with the left-shoulder letter were actually not traditional at all. Original Six Red Wings uniforms had the letter on the right shoulder. The Wings moved the "C" back to the right side because otherwise it would not fit on the Edge jersey without shrinking or otherwise altering the team logo. For decades prior all teams, including Detroit, wore their letters on the left.

Maybe being selected #1 at the All-Star game got into his head.

Or maybe just maybe Franzen and his lack of intensity are contagious.

Datsyuk's been slumping the past few games for sure. I'm still shocked that he let Booth beat him out of the corner last night. The way he was lining up i figured he was going to nail Booth, but obviously that didn't happen. Sometimes i wish Babs would shake things up more often to get guys going. I'm really hoping we get to see a new face by the 28th(or is it the 27th?) to play alongside him.

i have been thinking he is tired. has looked sluggish for a couple of weeks.

i was hoping AS break would give him some rest, but he looked worse vs vancouver.

Eh he's allowed to take a couple games off... he's been a beast pretty much all season.

Seriously, you can't be on every night, even though he almost is.

Datsyuk gets way more of a leash than say, Franzen, because you know he's working hard the whole time and that he's harder on himself than anyone else. His cold streaks never last very long and he's always working.

Don't think anyone is questioning him or his motor the last few games. Just kind of curious if he has a something bothering him. He was scoring at such a high rate, then to drop off to only having points in two of his 7 games..Plus he did miss a game in the there somewhere not too long ago.

That was very un-Datsyuk-like play. I thought something has to be wrong with him.

That is what I was wondering about, after he missed that game, it seems something is bothering him.

And I do not see why he got it. He did not do anything special.
Something is wrong. Datsyuk was red hot, now he is cold. Is it some minor inury bothering him or he is plain cold?

I think Datsyuk is simply cold, no injuries.

I think if Babcock continues to allows him to play between Fil and Hudler that this cold streak will quickly be a thing of the past. The puck possession on that line will be fun to watch.

It made Z look a hell of a lot faster to play with Franzen and Bert. Dats looked good still as usual. And yeah there were some shifts where I was like

"THIS IS WHY HFBOARDS LIKES FIL + HUDS AND FILP + DATS."

Hadn't seen any discussion of this quote, Pavel seems to be nursing some sort of minor injury.

Quote:
Datsyuk unable to take faceoffs
Pavel Datsyuk took only one faceoff in Monday's 3-1 loss to Phoenix, as an apparent wrist injury has flared up.
“Nothing major, we just decided that for the next few games he won’t take any faceoffs,'' Babcock said.

i assumed there was some sort of injury, since he was not taking as many faceoffs.

strader mentioned at the start of the last game (i think when talking about stuart) that flu has been going through the locker room, and i wondered if datsyuk has the flu.

he has been very passive recently.

What a standard we hold, when Datsyuk is the subject of "Finally a strong game"

During the Oilers/Wings game on TSN, they said Datsyuk is nursing a wrist injury, for the past 5 or so games, that's why he hasn't taken as many faceoffs as intended...

TSN was actually shocked by the amount he took in the 1st period alone.

As good as it is to have Datsyuk playing... part of me really just wish he'd take a week or two off and get 100%.
