Yeah, it's probably not the main event. I saw one of the dumb MMA sites I follow tweet that it will headline the card but that tweet has now been deleted.

They may just have it headline to make it 5 rounds, because it needs those extra 2 rounds more than almost any other fight they could come up with for the card.

It probably won't be the main event, but that fight's awesome.

EDIT: Helwani says that it won't be.

Yeah, just saw that....

According to @danawhite, Miller vs. Diaz on May 5 will not be the main event on FOX. No word just yet on what will be.
I really hope Miller doesn't just control Nate on the ground for three rounds.

When will Cruz/Faber be good to go? I'm guessing May 5th will be a bit too early for that one?

I suspect they'll roll out a higher weight fight, though, for the main event. Lots of guys at 205. I wonder if Rashad comes out healthy and is ready vs Jones if Shogun/Hendo 2 wouldn't be a possibility for Fox.

The Ultimate Fighter starts March 9th and will run for 13 weeks so you're looking at sometime in June for the finale.

I think Mantis hit it on the head with a Cain/Mir fight headlining this card. It's set for May 5th, Cinco de Mayo. Cain is Mexican. Seems like Dana and Fox could promote the hell out of that aspect.

Cruz/Faber would be interesting, but when does TUF start?

I think both JDS and Overeem said they would like to fight in June/July. So Cain vs Mir to determine the #1 contender in May would be perfect timing.

Starts on March 15. It's all live this year but there's still going to be 13 weeks so the earliest they could fight is the end of May or early April. I think they will have Cruz/Faber as the main event on the TUF finale card on FX.

My only concern with Cain is that he just lost on Fox, so I don't know if they need to throw him back on there so quick. Miller vs Diaz are the 9th and 10th fighters announced for Fox main cards, and all 10 are coming off wins. Having Cain lose again on Fox would be a career-killer of sorts, seeing as many fans would only know him as the guy whose lost 2 in a row. Plus, do they want another HW main event after how the last one went?

But for just a straight-up fight, its the one to make. We've been talking about it on here for months, so it would make sense.

People love HW fights so I don't think the UFC will have a problem with having that as the main event. Even if it does only last 30 seconds, there will be two other good/great fights on the main card.

IMO, Cruz/Faber moving around for 25 minutes and not being able to finish the fight would probably turn casual viewers away.

John Dodson against Darren Uyenoyama already added to that one. At flyweight.

Tom Lawlor vs. Jason MacDonald will apparently be part of UFC on FX 3 (this could always not be on FX), in Virginia.

After what we saw last night, bring on tge small guys. People forget that the two biggest draws in all of combat sports fight at 147 lbs.

Nate Diaz vs Jim Miller is now the main event for UFC on Fox 3.

I was hoping for a bigger/better main event but I'm not going to complain too much about a five round fight between Diaz and Miller. The fact that it's free makes it even better.

Pat Barry vs Lavar Johnson has also been added to the main card.

Thiago Silva will make his return against Brandon Vera on the May 15th FX card.

I like Diaz/Miller but not sure how well that will be appreciated by casual fans. Barry/Johnson will be an absolute war hopefully and since they're heavyweights, I can see that being a very popular fight all around. Wonder what the 3rd fight will be on that Fox 3 card.

The rating for that will be interesting. They're hinging on the Diaz name having huge pull. If it flops, then the future cards will be much different.

I don't know about Miller and Diaz headlining, but at the very least Diaz is entertaining so hopefully it works out. Absolutely love Barry and Johnson. You figure that one's gotta end in an exciting KO. I also like Silva and Vera. Bad blood there, and my guess is Thiago lays a beating on him again.

Brandon Vera shouldnt even be in the UFC anymore, nevermind an integral part of a card that is supposed to bring in viewers for the fledgling ufc/fox partnership.

Just a horrid choice for that venue.

I'm ok with the choices for Fox 3. They're going to be great fights at least. Johnson v Barry made sense immediately once Johnson won.

As for the third fight, I think maybe they'll have some bigger name to carry some of the fight promo. Griffin v Tito would make some sense, although even better would be getting Dan Henderson in there.

Does anyone think Henderson could take another HW fight? There really is nobody for him to fight @ 205 unless they give him someone coming off a loss like Machida.

Henderson/Machida is a great matchup. Unfortunately, Joe Silva has been sucking hard lately so we probably won't see it.

I think in this specific instance it's more a case of Hendo not being interested in it because it does nothing for him.
