Good news. As much as people say that Condit didn't owe Diaz a re-match, considering all the controversy around the decision he won't be able to get past it until he dominates Nick.

This^.
Good on Condit for stepping up.
Would be even better if he were to sever ties with Jackson.
Nick knows adjustments have to be made. He's a fighter capable of doing it. But I expect he's so stubborn that he'll fight the same fight. Maybe it'll work. Really excited for this news.
Would be cool to have this on the Jersey card on Fox, but this fight just screams Memorial day weekend in Vegas to me. That or 4th of July weekend, although that may be a little too far off and my guess is that JDS/Overreem probably headlines 4th of July.
I'm pretty sure both guys love fighting in Vegas. I know Condit for sure does but can't remember if Diaz really cares or not. That being said, I want this free on Fox. I think its a perfect fight to put on there because it will draw in the casual fans who want to see two people stand and bang.

I think he will be working hard to get it to the ground where he pretty much had his way when he got it there. Condit is no slouch on the ground, so it should be interesting.
Crazy! Did not see this coming.. I imagine after the fight Condit had no interest, but after reading around and having people question his fight, I could see why he would change his mind, he seems to have a lot of pride. Should be a good one!
That was a pretty short retirement. Brett Favre would be proud.
Looking forward to the rematch. Hopefully they put it on the FOX card.
I think they said Condit wanted the rematch because of the controversy but I wouldn't be surprised if this had more to do with GSP. Kenny Florian said GSP told him he would give up his belt to fight Diaz before fighting Condit. Obviously they would never let GSP do that but they cancelled the GSP/Condit fight once before because GSP wanted Diaz and it looks like they're doing it again. Sucks for Condit but oh well.....
Can't imagine Jackson and Condit's manager are too happy with this decision. I have a feeling Diaz is going to try to take this to the ground like he did in the later rounds last fight. He looked a lot better on the ground than he did standing.
Good on the UFC, good on Condit, this is the right move. I really hope Diaz works on his footwork so he can force Condit to fight this time, we all know GJ will want him to fight the exact same way.

I highly doubt it. The Jackson camp has way too much to lose in reputation if they fight the same way. You know it's bad when other fighters call you forrest gump, that without a cage he would of ran all the way back to New-Mexico and whatnot. My guess is they go for more takedown attempts than the 1st fight.
This is stupid, and I hate when the UFC does this. It's the same treatment Edgar got when he beat Penn. The guy the UFC is counting on to win loses a close fight, so they make them fight again. Why should Condit have to beat Diaz twice to be champion, and Diaz only have to beat Condit once?

Agreed. Give me Condit/Ellenberger and Diaz/Sanchez (providing Ellenberger wins) anyday.

They have to listen to the fans, without the fans they have nothing. I saw a poll the UFC posted (world wide) related to who the fans' thought won the fight, it was 47% each with 6% saying it was to close to call. You put that together with the outcry from numerous fighters and it's a pretty reasonable rematch, IMO.
Besides, if Condit is the legit champion he should have no problem beating Diaz again. Hell Frankie did it (against Penn), he even did it more convincingly the second time around.

Im not sure Condit will fight the same game plan.
If he does, the uproar will be even worse.
Maybe he wants to redeem himself?
I don't know if I can believe that, as much as I'd like to. If he doesn't employ that strategy he'll get assassinated, IMO. The few times that Diaz got him cornered he absolutely lit him up to the body/head, luckily for Condit he was out of the corner after about 4/5 shots.
I hope he does come out aggressive and turns it into the fight we all expected last time, it just isn't smart.

Close fights shouldn't warrant an immediate rematch, especially in a division like WW where there's no shortage of top talent. Guys like Sanchez, Ellenberger, Hendricks & Rory MacDonald are now stuck behind the log jam of Diaz/Condit 2 and then the fight with GSP that follows it.
Don't matter Nick can't beat fighters who are smart enough to avoid his strengths.
Can't wait to hear the butthurt after Carlos walks to victory for the second time.
Diaz fans think he has a chance vs. GSP anyway.
