We let Moulson go and Wideman was never a King. We didn't trade a 4th overall pick, a 2nd rounder and fan favorite who we developed and a lot of Eastern teams would kill for now seeing him and a 2nd round pick for either of those guys.

Next.

We let Simmonds and those other assets go too. You need to accept that reality and stop stabbing your eyes with a fork just because Philly puts Simmonds in front of the net on the PP for tap-ins.

You like to use the stats argument when it is convenient to you and run away and scream foul when it is used against. Players of varying skill levels perform differently on various teams. Just because Wideman is putting up points with a ridiculous offensive lineup like the Capitals doesn't make him any more attractive to be here in place of Doughty.

Just because Simmonds is playing well, and Schenn is developing, as we all knew he would, doesn't mean that they are anymore valuable to the Kings and would be performing at the same clip on this team as they are on the Flyers. We got the best player in the deal, unfortunately he plays for LA, but he is still the best player.

Don't you have fourth line charts you should be going over meticulously about this time in the season instead?

To be fair Johnny Utah is pointing out a problem that we shouldn't pretend isn't an issue.

Mike Richards has produced less every year for 3 straight years. A 23 year old Richards had more goals and more points then a 24, 25, and now 26 year old Mike Richards. Guys going into his prime and he's getting worse. It's not one down year at this point.

So the question is... Why exactly did Richards go from a career high of 80pts down to 62 pts then 66pts and now maybe even into the 40's. Injuries and linemates doesn't explain a 20% drop from high in back to back years when he's playing 80+ games and playing with the same players on the Flyers.

What's even more troubling that the two best years of his career (75 and 80 pts) are just around and before the point that he signs a 69 Million Dollar 12 year contract. Once that's done he hasn't been close. You think the Flyers give someone 5.7 Million a year for 60ish pts? No... they thought he was going to be a 70-80 pt guy with combined with his amazing hockey sense. They thought he was a true close to pt a game player and 1st line center and then all of a sudden he wasn't.

Lets be honest. They traded him because they didn't trust him.

Mike Richards plays amazing defense. Guys got shockingly good hockey sense and does seem to be in the right place at the right time. So is that combined with 50pts (maybe, it's likely he isn't going to get that this year) worth 5.7 Million for the next decade?

I think we shouldn't talk about Mike Richards as the 70-80 pt a year two way top line center. He isn't that guy. He's, hopefully, a 50-60's pt player two way center. For 5.7 Million a year.

As for Carter. That's a terrible idea to trade for him. It's not just a salary cap issue it's a financial flexibility issue. You cannot be a long-term viable hockey team with this many decade long contracts. You can't do it. Eventually one of these guys is going to have a chronic injury and you're still going to be paying them forever. You cannot have that many contracts that are so long-term. It's far FAR to dangerous.

Philly goes down 6-0 and is able to make a game out of it. LA goes down 1-0 and they shut down because of the mountain they would have to climb to come back.

Still lost. Giving up 6 goals is as much of problem or not scoring one. Because you still lost.

And Schenn got knocked out, holy ****.

At least in terms with his point production with the Flyers, Richards started playing less with the emergence of Claude Giroux.

Mike Richards
2007-08: 13:21 EV, 4:52 PP (75 points)
2008-09: 15:11 EV, 3:20 PP (80 points)
2009-10: 14:58 EV, 3:16 PP (66 points)
2010-11: 13:47 EV, 2:56 PP (62 points)

Claude Giroux
2008-09: 12:49 EV, 1:23 PP (27 points)
2009-10: 12:47 EV, 2:45 PP (47 points)
2010-11: 14:13 EV, 3:04 PP (76 points)

Schenn needs to get stronger. But, Kovalchuk is also one of the strongest players in the game. I don't know if Schenn was unaware or he didn't care. Hopefully he will be okay.

Yea seriously. Kovalchuk isn't a nancy boy like people think he is. The guy is built.

There is some moron over on the Flyers board trying to argue that a slewfoot isn't dirty or dangerous.

What a play by Bieksa in the Vancouver/Colrado game. Slid to keep a puck out of an empty net, then scored the game tier.

Thanks Vancouver, might steal the 2nd point away from Colorado.

What the hell? I wasn't arguing anything It was just an objective observation. Do you disagree?

Edit: I totally agree he's gotta toughen up. His career is going to be over before it stars if he gets injured.
