Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren's statement on forward James van Riemsdyk:
"James was hit in the head in each of our last two games. He reported yesterday, not feeling like himself. He will be out indefinitely with a concussion."
JVR OUT INDEFINTELY
Prior to the Flyers taking the ice for their morning skate in Nashville, Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren announced that forward James van Riemsdyk will be out indefinitely with a concussion.
"James was hit in the head in each of our last two games. He reported yesterday, not feeling like himself. He will be out indefinitely with a concussion," said Holmgren.
The Flyers posted victories over the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday an New York Islanders on Thursday, when the two instances occurred. He had 13:54 of time-on-ice for the Flyers' 2-1 win at Carolina and just over 10 minutes of ice time in the Flyers' 3-2 win on Long Island.

We have a winner: out indefinitely with a concussion.

Wtf??? This came out of nowhere. I realllllly think they need to sit him out for a while and let him get to 100%. He's not so valuable to our scoring (this year) that we'll win noticeably less games, and him being healthy would allow him to give us an impact in the playoffs, when it's actually needed. It sound to me the JVR is having a plethora of issues this year.
I'm just going to go ahead and throw this out there... Randy says it isn't a hip injury and that if JVR were to sit, he might not be better in time for the playoffs so...:
-JVR winces / grimaces when he really opens up his stride and seems reluctant to do it.
-His play has taken a significant hit
-This all happened after he was out w/ what was called an abdominal injury
Does this not totally reek of the Versteeg situation last year? The way JVR is playing @ this point looks exactly like how Versteeg played for us last year after his injury. I can't believe no-one else sees it. I mentioned earlier that I thought this could in fact be a sports hernia that is ailing JVR.
And with this latest tweet by Miller confirming that it is in fact a serious injury but isn't a hip impingement as rumored, I think it has to be a sports hernia.

Using logic to deduce the possible origin of injuries!?!?!?!
Flyers left wing James van Riemsdyk isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Not to the Nashville Predators. Not on the ice with the Flyers.
A day after being linked to talk that he could be traded to Toronto for defenseman Luke Schenn, JVR was shut down indefinitely with a concussion that no one outside the organization knew about.
Quote:
Concussions have been a bigger problem than ever this season throughout the NHL, and the Flyers have been victimized as much as anyone. Captain Chris Pronger is done for the season due to post-concussion symptons, plus star center Claude Giroux, rookies Brayden Schenn and Matt Read all have missed games with a concussion.
JVR is averaging 15:10 of ice time per game this season, but played just 13:54 Tuesday in Carolina and 10:32 in Thursday’s road win against the New York Islanders.
JVR has 11 goals and 22 points in 37 games, but it’s been a frustrating season for the 22-year-old Jersey product as he’s battled another undisclosed injury for much of the season that probably will require surgery at some point. Depending on how serious his concussion is, perhaps the other issue will be addressed sooner rather than later.

"Two for two. I'm on fire."
Anyway ... what a crap development this is! Another player on the sideline with a concussion. I guess the Ottawa announcers are saying that JvR is now faking the concussion, just like they were saying he faked being hit.
