We NEED Luke Schenn... once they are united on one team, they chant an incantation from some book and they become UNSTOPPABLE. It was all foretold in the Schenn Prophecy.
Two Schenns to rule them all...
Methinks poor James will be struck until just after the trade deadline. Then the power of the Ring will heal him for he does not want to leave the Shire.
Hopefully this means that whatever else ails Van Riemsdyk, he'll get it looked after. Now that he's out with a concussion, this is the perfect time to heal himself up and if he needs something operated on, get it done now.

Luke Schenn to remain a Leaf indefinitely. RT @NHLFlyers: #Flyers announced that James van Riemsdyk is out indefinitely with a concussion.
I'd have absolutely no problem shutting him donw for the season. Rest his brain, clear the cob webs, and fix whatever other ailments he has. get him all fixed up and let him hit the ground running next season. I'd rather play it safe and NOT take a chance on screwing up a potential superstar.
I'm not saying he's not concussed, but "out indefinitely" after hearing you're the center of a major trade rumor?
he was elbowed in the head like last week or something. while it doesn't look like much from the video (which can be seen above) after the contact he was seen on the bench holding his jaw. as most people know a hit to the jaw has been linked to concussions. after that any little thing could have made matters worse.
Hope they shut him down and that care of his other injury too.
Am I the only one who still can't see the contact on that Butler hit? I know there were some others in the GDT who thought there was no contact as well.

I can't see any contact either but we would need a better video to say for sure.
“Butler clipped him at home,” Briere said. “Besides that one, I don’t remember. We get hit in the head all the time, but it starts with one, big hit. You see that [Sidney] Crosby is a perfect example.
“He gets clipped in the head and after that, all the battles, you get hit in the head somehow and then you see it even more after.”
JVR had two goals and an assist in five games with Schenn’s unit.
“I thought we’ve had some good chemistry me, him and Schenner and playing well the last couple of weeks,” Simmonds said. “It’s unfortunate.”
Simmonds said he initially thought that JVR took a high-stick in the second game against Ottawa when talking to Schenn this morning until reminded about the Butler hit on home ice.
“It was during that play and he was fine for a couple of days and then, I don’t know, it’s a real tricky thing,” Simmonds said. “You have to be careful with them. Sometimes they sneak up on you.”

It didn't look like much but JVR was on the bench later holding his jaw on the same side that the contact was made (or at least in question) and it was a little red. Honestly it looks like it just grazed him but at high speeds and if he had his mouth piece out chewing on it like he often does (like p. kane) it could cause a concussion. now i don't want to say thats what it was cause obviously i don't/can't know for sure. i'm not a doctor but there is plenty of literature on concussions linked to contact with the jaw.
****ing infuriating that that dirty elbow gave JVR a concussion
The league is a joke like always. Shannahan has changed nothing. That was a blatant headshot elbow that was totally unnecessary, not a hockey play at all. And it wasn't looked at because the effects weren't immediately apparent? ********.

I really dont understand how people have formed this opinion. His elbow clearly caught him on the chin. And JVR reacted immediately, practically no delay at all
