Pernell Karl Subban's next contract

Subban is on a contract year and will be signed for more than $875k. How much will Subban be signed for?

3.5M / season plus a bonus of 5 classless Subbans.

I would imagine somewhere around $3.5 mil as well. He is an RFA and I personally think he took a step back from last season which isn't going to help him in contract talks.

Good point. Habs should lock him up longterm for 2.5 million since he sucks according to the majority of non Habs fans.

Agree with FanHabtic, sign him low, after the way he turtled against Boston it looked like his spine had been plucked from his body! Every team out there knows his number... He may be skilled, but......

At first I was like who in the hell is Pernell Karl?

I'd guess around $3M per 2-3 year deal, then the big dollars if he performs well after that.

Why are people whining about this post when we all say the same thing on the Habs board? He didn't say he was bad, just not quite as good as last year which is true.

I would love something like the Schenn deal, 5/19M. Maybe only a four year though so he is still RFA after the deal is over.

I'd willing give him Gorges or Schenn money, either 5 years at $3.8M per or 6 years at $3.9M per. Either deal will eat up UFA years.

When I start threads with Subban in it, you know that it will contain the first name in full, Pernell Karl.

3.5 for 4 years, could be less of a cap hit a long term deal if the Habs decide to commit to him being their bonafide #1.

Only offensively. Defensively he's been a rock and much better than last year. His high turnover number is just a testament to how much this guy has the puck. Hopefully we can get a 3 year deal out of it so we don't have to really pay him until a few bad contracts are off the books.

4 years 16 million? Not a bad contract for a young d-men with great upside.

He'll get 4-4.5 if Montreal wants to keep him. Montreal cannot afford to lose him and his agent knows it.

He can't go anywhere genius, he's an RFA. He zero leverage. See Kyle Turris.

That's not a sensible way to look at things. Given his importance to the team and club, he certainly has significantly more leverage than Turris had. The Coyotes, even in their specific situation, could more easily afford to not have Turris on their roster than the Habs could with PK next season, in my opinion. The team holding RFA rights certainly still has a lot more leverage, but not every RFA is in the same situation. Montreal will also intend to find the right balance in the negotiations as its in their very best interest to not damage the relation with PK. They'll find a fair common ground, I am sure.

As good as he was last season he's not near the same level this season. I would offer him 3.5 for 4 yrs.If his agent doesn't want to accept this then he can be the one to tell P.K that he won't be playing in the NHL for a few seasons.Teams have to learn to play hardball to.If P.K wants big money than he'll have 4 yrs to prove he deserves it.

I hear hes better then Karlsson, so probably in the 7m area. You dont let young stud defensemen like that go for cheap, they get snapped up in offer sheets.

Likely. Lock him in and hope it was just the slump yr all fall into.

Or send him to Mn. That's cool too. In my eyes. I'd take Malcolm too in the draft. A goalie stockpile

3.334 cap hit

would be ideal, but he'll probably get around 4.5

3.25M for 2 years

PK probably will want a shorter deal to prove himself first.

I'd give him 3.8 for about 5-6 years.

Next year, it will seem alot but the payback will be the other years of 40-50 points season not costing 7 million -_-
