sigh... Detroit was already in a Winter Classic. Sucks to say it, but I won't be watching 24/7 or the winter classic next year. NHL keeps going to the same teams over and over again. What's the point.

Good to see a different team in the winter classic. Nice also that it's the first Canadian team.

They need to go real old school, BOTH teams wearing dark jerseys

24/7 might be a little bland. I mean come on, the red wings? Will we get to see Kessel's off-ice workout regimen?

I'm glad they are doing a cross-border one. I assume they were waiting for the Leafs to finally be respectable before jumping on this. They are running out of big market teams to use to promote this event. Hopefully they do away with the Heritage classic and just do Winter classic with all teams.

Anyone wanna venture a guess on ticket prices? I'm thinking starting price 80 bones for nosebleeds.

Leafs are happy, now they get new uniforms and will make a ton of money selling jerseys.

Think people are going to be surprised to see how funny some of the Wings are. Datsyuk in particular is a funny dude. He is going to be the Bryz of next years 24/7.

I think all 30 teams evenly split merchandise sales so i guess Nashville and Columbus will be happy?

Friend of mine heard on the radio that there's a chance that HBO doesn't do 24/7 next year? Apparently they have a new president in place and aren't sure of whether they want to invest in another series..

Does that mean the Heritage Classic will be scratched and we'll just start mixing Canadian and American teams?

Dead wrong. See my posts a few above yours. The original six, geographic proximity, the two teams being in the same conference for most of their existence, and many Ontario towns being split 50% Wings and 50% Leafs make it a great rivalry.

Wings are my team and always will be. Leafs will always be the team I enjoy 2'nd most and I love watching Leafs/Wings more than any other Wings opponent.
Don't bother wasting time explaining to those who are clueless about the history between these two clubs, and to those that think this event is "lame"

I am guessing so yeah. The Heritage classic was a decent idea but they only do it every few years.

I think its great they are mixing Canadian teams in.

Where are all those people who were saying "A Canadian team will NEVER be in a Winter Classic" now?

NBC isn't going to be happy.

Nielsen won't be rating this game good.

Should keep Canadian teams out of the American game.

People not wanting this should re-think this event.
The Alum game will have some fantastic players and will be the treat of the entire day.
These two teams don't care for each other much as well as the fans, there is more rivalry then some of you suspect.
24/7 is going to be much better then some of you realize. Is no one curious about getting a peek in to the Wings locker room and seeing how that team is run even on a small level?
