Season transactions

A thread for all sort of transactions in the SEL, 2nd-tier league and the junior league.. but also transactions involving Swedish players abroad.

Patrik Juhlin has signed with 2nd-tier league team Västerås after starting the season with Bern in Switzerland. (http://www.vik.se/)

AHL players Martin Wilde (Hershey) and Patrik Nilson (Lowell) have been assigned to lower leagues. Wilde will start the season with Quad City Mallards in the UHL, while Nilson will play for the Las Vegas Wranglers in the ECHL.

Hannes Hyvönen has been released by Färjestad and is now searching for a new team to play with. He was the 13th forward on Färjestad's deep roster.

Talented prospect Linus Videll, drafted by the Colorado Avalanche, has by Södertälje been sent on loan to Halmstad.

not exactly earth shattering news, but Martin Wilde recalled to Hershey (AHL) from Reading (ECHL).

and Marty Turco will leave Djurgården and return to NorthAmerica due to personal reasons. This means that Bjurling should be the starter for the next two games before they could sign a new goalie.

Södertälje's coach Timo Lahtinen have been fired, the "GM" Mats Hallin will serve as an interim coach until they aquire a new one. Södertälje have 5 straight losses and sits currently in 11th spot in the standings.

Hmm. I'm not sure Hallin is such a big improvement over Lahtinen.. Do you think Nygårds has a shot at getting the job?

According to SSK´s forum (i don`t know how reliable that is) he (Nygårds) doesn`t want to or something like that. About a Hallin as someone put it: "Ur askan in i Elden".

Mike Comrie has reportedly left the swedish team Färjestad. His 1st contract with the team lasted to the middle of December, the offered extension was until January 31. Comrie had the right to end the contract whenever he wanted for whatever reason so Comrie now joins the list of NHL-players leaving Sweden: Arnason, McCabe, Boucher, Turco & Boumedienne. Mike recorded one goal and 6 assists in 10 games during his brief stint in the SEL.

"He felt he couldn´t focus on hockey right now and instead wanted to take care of his new house in Phoenix." - Håkan Loob, Färjestad

"We understand Comrie decision completely. We just have to accept that it isn´t easy to change the environment to Sweden as many believe." - Håkan Loob

Färjestad is looking to replace him with a new center from the NHL, names mentioned in the media are Stephane Yelle, Todd White, Scott Thornton and Andrew Cassels.

This signing does not make sense to me. A hardworking, defensive minded forward that barely managed to average a point per game in the Slovenian hockey league this fall...

Me thinks Malhotra could leave quicker than McCabe...

HV needs help with the scoring and Manny will not provide that. He has never scored more then 12 goals in the big league. How long will he stay? My prediction is that he is gone before the end of January.
